Los Angeles, CA — A video uploaded to Facebook last week shows the ridiculous nature of the American police state. According to the video uploader, the police in the video below came to this house because they saw a teenager riding his bike with no hands and without a helmet. Not wanting to be kidnapped or killed, the teenager rode his bike home after he saw the police. When police showed up, you’d think they were responding to a bank robbery or child kidnapping. However, the half-dozen public servants were only there to extort money from a child for not wearing a helmet. During the standoff, the family knew that their child was going to be kidnapped by police, so they initially refused to hand him over. After several threats, however, the boy would eventually come outside. The officers blatantly lied to the family, saying only that they wanted him to come outside to receive his citation for no helmet. But after walking out, he’s immediately placed in cuffs and put into a patrol car. The video below represents the epitome of everything wrong with police in America today. We see men gunned down, shot in the back by cops over a broken tail light. We see children, murdered by officers who wrongly raided a home in search of an arbitrary substance. The reality is that this boy’s very life was in jeopardy — over a bicycle helmet.

I counted 8 cops there, to arrest one 16 year old kid, for riding a bicycle without a helmet. WTH ??? If the SHTF, those cops are going to be in deep shit !!! I know of situations where one SP Trooper stood up to 10 bikers. Yeah, it's pretty bad when it takes a gang of cops to issue a ticket. You're probably old enough to remember when there were no helmet laws for kids or anyone for that matter. And what kid never rode with no hands to show off? After I got out of the service in 1976, I biked from Ohio to Montana and back - never wore a helmet. I may have even rode with no hands a few times. Geesh - back then even the riders in the Tour De France didn't wear helmets, they wore those little bike caps. Too many laws - this used to be a free country. Yeah - seems that the Staties are much braver than the local cops. Yes, the incident I am talking about involved 10 motorcyclists. They were Hells Angels wanna bes . The Trooper cited them all for moving violations, and two for DWI . The two DWI's went to jail. The Trooper did it all by himself ! He, like many State Troopers I knew was very brave ! He would have laughed and scoffed at many of the cops that are reported on here. He was a very good Trooper. I was proud to call him a friend. As to local cops, I have known many that were good ! I think it is way past time that the police live under the same laws as a private citizen. You CANNOT use your weapon except in the case of being necessary to save your own life, or that of others. Chasing a car full of bank robbers, or suspected terrorists, "safeties off", running down a seat belt violator or someone refusing to stop for them because he didn't have a bike helmet on?..... The cops should be embarrassed publicly, maybe put in the town square in stocks for a day. . . . like that will ever happen.

You left out "torture". The teen didn't want to be kidnapped, tortured or killed by the police. A valid concern, yes? I just watched the video. Surprise, surprise. The kid is black and his parents are defending his behavior. Excuse me. His mama is defending his behavior. Where's his dad, working?

You're right. It used to be that I wasn't forced to pay for the hospitalization of kids who suffered a concussion because they rode their bikes without a helmet. Back then their parents had to foot the bill so they made sure their children were safe. Now they don't care. Well, I do. If I have to pay, then I'm writing some rules to minimize my costs. Tell me I don't have to pay and they can ride naked for all I care.
Who was that kid? Did he have a rap sheet? Did he have a warrant out? Was he a suspect in a crime? Was he an illegal? Was he a terrorist? Did he have guns in the house? You have no idea. But he did run from the police, so something's going on, right? Would you run from the police for a stupid helmet violation?

Correct. But I would error on the side of caution, sending multiple officers. You would error on the side of stupidity, and assume he was a sweet, innocent child.

If someone runs from the police the police have a duty to pursue them if they didn't everyone would run from the police and the police would just stand there and let everybody go, that would be pretty silly.
