I've seen it reported that George H. W. Bush didn't remember where he was on the day Kennedy was assassinated. I've heard and seen this over and over. What I would like to know where is the original source for this claim. I think I read once it was in Readers digest. I've also heard or read that he gave different answers. Can anyone track down the origination of this allegation?

Bush gave some interview about 15 years after JFK was killed where he said he didn't recall several details. For instance, he said he was "somewhere in Texas" at the time of the shooting. Well, he was in an entirely forgettable dinky town called Tyler, TX giving a snoozefest of a stump speech for his Senate campaign which he cancelled as soon as they received word that JFK had been shot (it wasn't yet known he was dead).
I've seen an unconfirmed picture of a man who resembled Poppy in appearance in Dallas. Someone might post it here if they find it.
That photo is so blurry that it seems ridiculous to hear people speculate that it was Spook Daddy.
Trump, who was at the time battling Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, for the Republican presidential nomination, claimed that his opponent’s father, Rafael Cruz, had been spotted with Oswald before the shooting. “His father was with Lee Harvey Oswald prior to Oswald being, you know, shot,” Trump said during a telephone interview. “I mean the whole thing is ridiculous. What is this? Right? Prior to his being shot. And nobody even brings it up. I mean, they don’t even talk about that – that was reported. And nobody talks about it.” Trump appeared to be referencing an April 2016 National Enquirer article headlined “Ted Cruz Father Linked to JFK Assassination!” The story contained a photo that, according to the tabloid, showed Oswald and Rafael Cruz distributing pro-Castro leaflets in New Orleans in 1963. Even after clinching the nomination, Trump stuck by the widely discredited story. “All I did is point out the fact that on the cover of the National Enquirer, there’s a picture of him [Rafael Cruz] and crazy Lee Harvey Oswald having breakfast,” Trump said. “I had nothing to do with it. This was a magazine that frankly in many respects, should be very respected. They got O.J. They got [John] Edwards. They got this. I mean, if that was the New York Times, they would have gotten Pulitzer prizes for their reporting.” Donald Trump has a conspiracy theory on one of JFK's killers... Rafael Cruz, Ted's dad!

I've been reading mentions that LBJ was revealed in the JFK document dump to have been KKK-affiliated. Not that that should surprise anyone, I guess. I'm waiting to see more on that story.
