Everything these Alt-Left thugs use today is exactly the same as back then. Their logo, weaponized words, double standards and lack of logic. Its all from Germany 85 years ago. They call everyone Nazis because that is who their opposition in Germany was. Antifa prefaced The National Socialist German Workers’ Party and empowered them. Without Antifa’s violence the Nazi party would have never won anything.

Antifa Flag Comes Directly From The German Communist Party In 1932

On the Left, the 1932 flag of the paramilitary wing of the Communist Party of Germany. On the Right, the 2017 flag of the paramilitary wing of the Democratic Party of America.

Antifaschistische Aktion

The first German movement to call itself Antifaschistische Aktion was proclaimed by the German Communist Party (KPD) in their newspaper Rote Fahne in 1932 and held its first rally in Berlin on 10 July 1932, then capital of the Weimar Republic. During the early 1930s amidst rising tensions between Nazis and the communists, Berlin in particular has been the site of regular and often very violent clashes between the two groups. In May 1932, the communist paramilitary organisation Rotfrontkämpferbund had been banned and, following a skirmish between Nazi and communist members in the parliament, the Antifaschistische Aktion was founded to ensure that the communists had still a militant wing to rival the paramilitary organisations of the Nazis. After the forced dissolution in the wake of the Machtergreifung in 1933, the movement was revived during the 1980s.

One of the biggest antifascist campaigns in Germany in recent years was the, ultimately successful, effort to block the annual Nazi-rallies in the east German city of Dresden in Saxony, which had grown into “Europe’s biggest gathering of Nazis”.

In October 2016, the Antifa in Dresden campaigned on the occasion of the anniversary of the reunification of Germany on 3 October for “turning Unity celebrations into a disaster” („Einheitsfeierlichkeiten zum Desaster machen“), to protest this display of new German nationalism, whilst explicitly not ruling out the use of violence.

“Come to us” Poster of Antifaschistische Aktion (1932)

The picture below is from the leftist run Wikipedia. This is the description under the picture on Wikipedia:
“Karl-Liebknecht-Haus, the KPD’s headquarters from 1926 to 1933. The KPD leaders were arrested by the Gestapo in this building in January 1933, when Hitler became Chancellor. The plaques on either side of the door recall the building’s history. Today it is the Berlin headquarters of the Left Party.”

and these are the people that the left wants Trump to support, I think he made a good call in saying there were bad people on both sides

I think he made a good call in saying there were bad people on both sides

He also said that there were "fine people on both sides". Which is also true.

A bit more on the history of the era and the rise of German communism in eastern Germany. I'll quote from Wiki's Rosa Luxemburg page:

German Revolution of 1918–19, Luxemburg's execution

Luxemburg was freed from prison in Breslau on 8 November 1918. One day later, Karl Liebknecht, who had also been freed from prison, proclaimed the "Free Socialist Republic" (Freie Sozialistische Republik) in Berlin.[18] He and Luxemburg reorganised the Spartacus League and founded The Red Flag (Die Rote Fahne) newspaper, demanding amnesty for all political prisoners and the abolition of capital punishment in the essay Against Capital Punishment.[4] On 14 December 1918, they published the new programme of the Spartacus League.

From 29 to 31 December 1918, they took part in a joint congress of the League, independent socialists and the International Communists of Germany (IKD), that led to the foundation on 1 January 1919 of the Communist Party of Germany (KPD) under the leadership of Liebknecht and Luxemburg. She supported the new KPD's participation in the Weimar National Assembly that founded the Weimar Republic, but was out-voted and the KPD boycotted the elections.

In January 1919, a second revolutionary wave swept Berlin. On New Year's Day Luxemburg declared:

Today we can seriously set about destroying capitalism once and for all. Nay, more; not merely are we today in a position to perform this task, nor merely is its performance a duty toward the proletariat, but our solution offers the only means of saving human society from destruction.[19]

Like Liebknecht, Luxemburg refused to reject this attempt to seize power. The Red Flag encouraged the rebels to occupy the editorial offices of the liberal press.

In response to the uprising, the Social Democratic leader Friedrich Ebert ordered the Freikorps to destroy the left-wing revolution. Luxemburg and Liebknecht were captured in Berlin on 15 January 1919 by the Rifle Division of the Cavalry Guards of the Freikorps (Garde-Kavallerie-Schützendivision).[20] Its commander Captain Waldemar Pabst, with Lieutenant Horst von Pflugk-Harttung, questioned them under torture and then gave the order to execute them. Luxemburg was knocked down with a rifle butt by the soldier Otto Runge, then shot in the head, either by Lieutenant Kurt Vogel or by Lieutenant Hermann Souchon. Her body was flung into Berlin's Landwehr Canal.[21] In the Tiergarten Liebknecht was shot and his body, without a name, brought to a morgue.

The execution of Luxemburg and Liebknecht inspired a new wave of violence in Berlin and across Germany. Thousands of members of the KPD as well as other revolutionaries and civilians were killed. Finally, the People's Navy Division (Volksmarinedivision) and workers' and soldiers' councils, which had moved to the political left, disbanded. Luxemburg was held in high regard by Lenin and Leon Trotsky, who recognised at the Third International her revolutionary credentials.[22]

The last part of the German Revolution saw many instances of armed violence and strikes throughout Germany. Significant strikes occurred in Berlin, the Bremen Soviet Republic, Saxony, Saxe-Gotha, Hamburg, the Rhinelands, and the Ruhr region. Last to strike was the Bavarian Soviet Republic, which was suppressed on 2 May 1919.

So we see the roots of communist revolution repeatedly in post-WW 1 Germany. Ten years after the communist revolution(s) in Berlin were violently suppressed and Rosenburg executed, their comrades were in the streets, fighting the Nazi SA, a criminal element freed from prisons to become the Nazi shock troops against the commies. Joseph Goebbels' early work was as a main organizer of these SA bands in street fights against the communists in Berlin and across old Prussia, a hotbed of commie insurrection.

Notice in her statement how capitalism must be destroyed to save mankind. It brings to mind the same propaganda uttered by the Antifa, the Occupy types, the black-shirted anarchists.

And they add in to the destruction of capitalism a desire to save not just mankind but the earth itself from global hotting.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. The commies a century ago relied on cheap printing presses and propaganda flyers. Today, it's the smartphone. Same tired failed ideas, same totalitarian outlook, now with new and improved technology.

This little chapter of German history makes me think Bannon may be correct about who won the battle of Charlottesburg.

Wait. The Antifascists were Communists OPPOSED TO the Nazis.

That makes them grey cats, better than the Nazis, not black cats.

Stalin's Soviets were dark grey cats, but even they were better than the Nazis.

Stalin's Soviets were dark grey cats, but even they were better than the Nazis.

More like birds of the same totalitarian feather IMO.

The Soviets killed a lot more people over a longer period of time. Holodomor, dissident chain gangs, the gulag, etc. As well as the general blight upon the lives and health of Soviet citizens and those trapped behind the Iron Curtain or those client states in the Mideast and Africa where the Soviet influence extended.

If it wasn't for Hollyweird and its endless stream of Nazi TV and movie fare, the Nazis would not be so famous. In fact, they'd be forgotten by those under 40, the same way they've forgotten the Fascists were Mussolini's Italian party.

It brings to mind the sharp rise of the KKK after D. W. Griffiths made his Birth of a Nation, a 1915 silent film starring Lilian Gish. That's when you saw organized KKK elements spreading across the Midwest and gaining real political power.

The film's release is also credited as being one of the events that inspired the formation of the "second era" Ku Klux Klan at Stone Mountain, Georgia, in the same year. The Birth of a Nation, along with the trial and lynching of Leo Frank for the 1913 murder of Mary Phagan in Atlanta, was used as a recruiting tool for the KKK.[10] Under President Woodrow Wilson, it was the first American motion picture to be screened at the White House.

If the SJWs had much sense of history, they'd be marching on Hollyweird in revenge for that abomination of a film, made, of course, by Jewish film producers for the nascent film industry.

Hollyweird has always been very good at presenting various scapegoats to the public.

There really isn't any group worse than communist. They have have done more damage to human kind than all other forms combined. They use the catchphrase "we are for the poor and against the evil rich". You would think we would as thinking humans figure out they are lying but sadly no! Socialism, communist lite, have been very good at this exploitation.

Well, maybe.

However, I've always considered the commies as being much worse than Nazis. It's hard to blame Nazis for more than about 15 million deaths, mostly in eastern Europe and from Soviet conscripts who were killed.

Communists have to answer for over a hundred million dead in the failed communist regimes like the USSR, Maoist China, Cuba, North Korea, all the failed Mideast and African dictators who were client states of the USSR, etc.

But communists aren't nearly as stylish to hate as German Nazis. The Nazis are the ones people love to hate. And they get fed a steady diet of Nazis via TV and movies and even video games. I saw recently that some video games and comic books are featuring black Nazi characters. It goes to show how popular hating (or loving) Nazis really is in America.

We may not tell Pollock jokes any more but we love to hate the Nazis, way out of proportion to the amount of damage they did to the world in general.

I think the Nazis are more popular because they had such advanced science for the era. Jets, missiles, rockets, autobahn, etc.

LOL True. Hypocritical hate. "Socialist" Germany ie Nazi's where not murderous for the commies and thats why they hate them so much. If they would have just murdered a few more million the commie's would think of them as their equal!

To all those lurkers Nazi means " National Socialist German Workers' Party"! OMG say it ain't so!

Besides, the Nazis had much more stylish uniforms.

Nothing in Soviet history ever equaled the glamor of an SS lieutenant's full uniform with greatcoat. The Germans had real military style and good science.

As elegant as a tux, as we've seen from so many Hollyweird films.

Well thats because the closer you get to communism the smaller the group of productive to steal from. Because everyone is either one of the pissed-on or rich rulers! LOL

Its just amazing how communism and fascism sound the same to the peon group!
