I have already gone to the League City police with this information and they laughed at me. And I don't know where else to post this so here it is:

What I know about October 7, 1983 (the night Hidi Villareal Fye disappeared)

First, I would like to correct two incorrect statements in the book I just read about the Calder Road killing field (by Kathryn Casey). First, Hidi’s hair was not blonde (or curley) like the other victims, and the pay phone in front of the Plantation convenience store at Hobbs & 518 was NOT where Hidi disappeared from or made her last phone call from (as was the case with one of the other victims).

The story begins six months before that when I got mad at Hidi (who was living with me at the time) for several reasons that I can’t remember now and I kicked her out. The last words I said to her as she was walking out the door was “And don’t come back until your hair is its natural hair color” (one of the things I was unhappy about).

And she disappeared for six months, and then one day (3 days before she disappeared) I went to see my younger daughter play soccer and I glanced over to my left and there was Hidi sitting there watching her daughter play (they are the same age). The amazing thing was, she had very beautiful long and perfectly straight dark brown hair (like I told her to do if she ever wanted to get back with me).

It was de ja vue all over again, and for three days I picked her up after work, partied with her and talked about old times (and then took her home, and that’s mostly because I had another female in my life). Anyhow, on Friday, Oct 7, 1983 Hidi called me 3 times and asked me for a ride to her ex's house on the other side of Houston to pick up “child support money” (although Brandi is not his child). And three times I said no (mainly because I had a date with the other female in my life, but also because I didn’t care much for Stephen and he didn’t like me).

The first time she called that day, she was at her parent’s house and I emphatically said No. The 2nd time was from said pay phone in front of Plantation and again I said No way. The third time she called, she called me at Bobby’s Hacienda (where I foolishly said I would be with my date) and she was calling from the Lone Star Saloon (where she had walked to and where she worked, or used to work). She once again begged me for a ride to Steve’s house (or apartment), and again I said No. But she is not the type of person to take No for an answer. She suggested that I could bring my date along, and she then said she was hitchin a ride to where I was and would be there in a few minutes. I said, Don’t do it. And for the rest of the night I was watching the front door (instead of paying attention to my date which needless to say did not turn out well).

I was pretty used to her disappearing for 6 months and didn't think much about it and Then, six months after that, when Hidi’s body turned up in the Calder Road killing field, I went into the Lone Star Saloon and talked to the waitress/ bar tender. She said Hidi left that fateful night with two “drug dealers” in a black pick-up truck. Because Hidi would not have got into that truck with someone she didn’t know and because I knew pretty much everyone she knew in the area, and because I’ve been thinking about it for 30+ years, I’m 99.9 % sure I know who her murderer is.

I told the League City police who it is, but they just laugh at me because he is well respected at NASA where he and I worked. He happened to be my roommate at the time, and he is also the photographer who took the photo of her that all the news media is showing. And he drove a black pick-up truck and he is very violent. He once beat his dog to death, and he also beat up his best friend in my living room when he started to tell me something about Hidi (that only the murderers could have known). They both drive/drove black pick-ups and they both smoked weed (as did Hidi) but I would consider it a bit of a stretch to call them “drug dealers” but that seems to be what the waitress thought about all marijuana users. But Hidi did know both of them very well.

So there you have it. After 30+ years, I have decided to come out with it and publicly identify the serial Calder Road killer (or at least the killer of Hidi Villareal Fye). Oh, I almost forgot to mention, my house was only a couple blocks from the Plantation Minimart where one of the other girls dis- appeared from and also just a few blocks from Calder Road down the Freeway.

That's all well and good. But the one thing the author DIDN'T do was put down a NAME. So essentially it's a random story that goes nowhere.

You have got to be kidding me. My housemate was/is a very well-respected NASA engineer, knows all the astronauts and is/was married to an astronaut's daughter. (That's why the LCPD laughed at me when I fingered him). But after living with him for awhile, I realized how violent he is and kicked him out.

What is wrong with you guys? One reason I didn't say his name is because he might try to kill me too like he did his dog and Hidi. But I can assure you that the LCPD knows his name because I told them.

Well that's her except the name she was given at birth is/was Hidi Marie Villareal. But she changed her name to Heidi and dyed her hair and never told anyone her maiden name because she didn't want anyone to know that she was a Mexican-American. Thats the main reason I kicked her out of my house, because she was so artificial. But in the end she repented and embraced her roots, and I was so proud of her, and I had a lot of hope for her and then her life was suddenly snuffed out (by my roommate and I am not going to let him get away with it).

Why would telling US cause him to kill you, but your public admission that you already told the police NOT cause him to kill you.

WE can't do anything about him in any case. The police are the ones he needs to fear, and you've already said you told them.

If he hasn't killed you for telling THEM, then he's not going to kill you for telling us either.

This happened in 1983. The killer is now 60 or 70 years old, and you post on LF so you certainly have a gun.

Since you know he's a killer, and you have disclosed his name to the authorities, if he shows up, then you know what he showed up FOR, and you have the means to defend yourself, right?

Does he even know where you live?

The story is useless without a name.

Also, you can tell the federal authorities, and the state authorities.

There are all sorts of authorities you can tell.

Just stopping with the local Barney Fife doesn't make sense. You want to get the killer prosecuted, tell all levels of law enforcement. Tell your Congressman and Senator and governor. Write a letter to the attorney- general.

Take out an ad in the newspaper.

Publish the guy's name.

Go to a TV show that investigates crime.

Make a public stink.

Oh, and if you're wrong, he doesn't kill you, but you do get sued for libel and hand over all of your property.

If you know for sure that the guy is a killer, expose him everywhere. If you don't know for sure but are merely suspicious, then let it go. God will take care of the justice in the end.

You guys are loco en la cabeza.

Do you think I told him that I reported him to the police? If I (or the police) had told him, I probably wouldn't be alive today to talk about it with you guys.

And I'm pretty sure he is not going to find out about it from my post on LF because he doesn't ever get on here. That's why I posted it here and not on facebook. Duh!

There is probably some truth in what you say. I'm thinking about going to the FBI, but I'm certainly not going to publish his name anywhere and have him either try to kill me or else sue me for libel like you say). I may be dumb but I'm not stupid.

Yes, he is about the same age I am (about 70). And that's why I want to hurry things up and have him sentenced to death before he dies of natural causes (or me because we are both getting old).

And yes, I do have a gun but I have never fired it and I hope I never have to.

And no he doesn't know where I live and I want to keep it that way. (That's why I'm posting this here and not on Facebook). And BTW, Barry Midyet is my pen name and not my real name. I use my real name on facebook.

Then telling us here would not be an issue, would it. You wrote here that you told the police, figuring this is anonymous. It'll go down the same memory hole if you post his name.

Look, if you really think this guy is a murderer, then go get a lawyer. You won't have to spend a lot. In fact, a consultation with a criminal defense lawyer won't cost you much of anything.

Go talk to a criminal defense lawyer and tell him that you are pretty sure you know who a murderer is, and you want him prosecuted, but the local authorities did not listen. Ask him what to do, or perhaps ask him to make the contacts for you. He will have credibility, and he will not be shy about contacting everybody and his brother and sister to get justice here. (You will need to pay him something to do that - probably not a fortune.)

If you're indigent, or nearly, go to legal aid. A lawyer will help you formulate your presentation of evidence in such a way that it will be more believable by the police.

There are investigators assigned to cold cases. This is a cold case, an old, notorious one. They will want to hear from you.

That's the most amazing story you've told. It has as much use to you for defense, as a rock. How long have you had it? It's of no practical value if you've never used it.

Take a shooting class, and start firing!

Well, the League City police must have had same vision. That's why I don't talk to them anymore. When I went in to tell them who the killing field murderer is, they actually asked me if I was the person who was putting flowers on her grave every day. And I said Yes, yes I am. And the detective concluded that I was the killer and I was making up the story about my roommate in an obvious effort to clear my name. (And I was trying to clear my name because I was their # 1 suspect at the time, until they finally decided to contact my date and she verified that I was with her. Anyhow, as far as I know they never investigated anything I said about my housemate and to this day they have not talked to the bartender that night who is only person (besides me) who knows who the killing field killer(s) is (because she saw them, and no one else has seen them), and she could probably identify my housemate and his best buddy out of a lineup (or from pictures, etc.) The LCPD is dumbest police department ever.

No, I have no plans to hire a lawyer and good lawyers are expensive.

And actually the book I just read says there is now an FBI detective assigned to the cold case(s), but I haven't been able to get hold of him (yet).

Take a shooting class, and start firing!

Actually I took a "shooting class" when I was in the military, and I have owned three guns before this one. Two were stolen and the police confiscated my last one and wont give it back because I actually fired it at someone and parted their hair. And she (the landlady I rented my tax office from) told the police I had tried to kill her, and I said No it was just a warning shot that I deliberately fired over her head (and she decided she had better let me in because I next had the gun pointed right between her eyes and I said the next bullet wasn't going to miss). And my rent was fully paid up and it was the busiest week of the tax season and she saw all the money I was making and said she was raising my rent and wasn't going to let me in until I paid her an absurd amount of money.

Anyhow I never got that gun back and my lawyer wanted to charge me a bunch of money to get it back. So I waited a while (until all that disappeared from my "criminal history" background check and only recently was I able to buy another gun. And believe me, I hope I never have to fire it because then there's probably going to be a big criminal investigation and I sure dont want to go through that again. (And I really do not want to have to kill another human being).
