The grandfather of one of three suspects killed during the alleged March 27 home invasion in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, says the use of an AR-15 against the suspects was “unfair.” Breitbart News reported that the Broken Arrow homeowner’s 23-year-old son shot and killed three suspected home intruders with an AR-15. According to Tulsa World, Wagoner County Sheriff’s deputy Nick Mahoney said the three suspects “were wearing all-black clothing, masks, and gloves” and allegedly “forced their way into the home through a glass door in the back.” The homeowner’s son was asleep at the time and awoke to “loud bangs” as the suspects made entrance. The son grabbed the AR-15 and opened fire when the intruders walked into the hallway. Deputy Mahoney said “investigators found a knife on one of the deceased in the kitchen and brass knuckles on the other.” ABC 8 reports that Leroy Schumacher, grandfather of deceased 17-year-old suspect Jacob Redfearn, says what the boys “did was stupid” but they did not deserve to die.” He added, “Brass knuckles against an AR-15, come on, who was afraid for their life.” He said the use of the AR-15 meant “his grandson didn’t have a chance.” Investigators believe the homeowner’s son acted in self-defense, but Schumacher does not believe the son’s actions should be legal. He said, “There’s got to be a limit to that law, I mean he shot all three of them; there was no need for that.”

He said the use of the AR-15 meant “his grandson didn’t have a chance.” And if the victim did not have a weapon then what? Would you be saying the same thing when you family hurt or murdered them? No! If the kids were scared off what keeps them from knowing that there is a gun in the house to steal while the owner is at school or work? Teach your kids better and these life lessons will not hurt so much!!!! This is more about society teaching criminal minded people crime does not pay! The life of crime very seldom pays minimum wage!!! Once you add in jail time it cost so working a MCD is a major step up!
Without the AR-15 the homeowner didn't stand a chance against three home invaders armed with brass knuckles and a knife. So there's that.

I keep a short-barrel shotgun with grip light handy at home to disassemble any serious threats - a rifle has too high a probability of wall penetration and harm to innocents. Other than that, yeah the AR-15 is unfair; should have used a flamethrower. Ghetto thugs? F'em. In a life-threatening fight, you don't give chances - you fight as hard and as dirty as necessary to destroy the threat.
I'm pretty sure that's why they sell frangible ammo for ar-15s.
And I'm pretty sure that virtually nobody, including this guy, loads their AR-15 with frangible ammo. I sure don't; my 7.62x39 eats FMJ with an occasional hollowpoint for dessert. You choose your tool based on the job at hand, and an AR-15 is a ridiculous home-defense weapon unless you live in a rural area on some land (I do) and think you might need to pick off a target outdoors at some distance.
It seems to sell well here in Reno.
