Today I went Albertsons supermarket to buy items for a dinner party I was was having. I picked 6 Maine lobsters, 6 large Porterhouse steaks, 4 lb of jumbo shrimp, and 4 lb of sea scallops. I selected a number of great bakery items, including 2 large gourmet cheesecakes. I selected several bottles of fine wine. All the staff were friendly and helpful. However, all that changed when i when to checkout and tried to pay with my EBT card. The cashier had a scowl on his face and told me I was a moron to try and pay for booze with an EBT card. I explained to him intelligently that wine isn't booze. It is a nutritious beverage that has been shown to have health benefits. He then called me an idiot and said I still couldn't buy it with an EBT card. So i went to pay for just the food. He told me to get out. The store didn't want the business of deadbeats and losers like me. The other customers were snickering. I felt so humiliated.
I went home and thought about it and called a manager. He told me the the cahier was right. He also told me me if I ever set foot in the store again I would be arrested for trespassing.
This isn't right. i earned those EBT benefits.
