Title: Let’s start deporting those illegals, says...Canada?

Last week we examined the question of whether or not there might be a “Trump Effect” showing up in Canada. But looking at the results of a recent survey taken in the Great White North I’m starting to wonder if it wasn’t there long before Trump came to town. Now that Canadians are being forced to deal with their own issue of illegal immigrants coming across the southern border, people aren’t particularly happy about it. In fact, a very sizable portion of the population would not only like to see these border incursions stop, but they want the unwelcome visitors to be deported. (Reuters)
Nearly half of Canadians want to deport people who are illegally crossing into Canada from the United States, and a similar number disapprove of how Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is handling the influx, according to a Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll released on Monday.

A significant minority, four out of 10 respondents, said the border crossers could make Canada “less safe,” underlining the potential political risk for Trudeau’s Liberal government.

The increasing flow of hundreds of asylum-seekers of African and Middle Eastern origin from the United States in recent months has become a contentious issue in Canada.

Well, isn’t that just fascinating? We are continually assured by our socialist leaning liberal betters that Canada is a far more civilized and desirable country precisely because of their open attitude toward multiculturalism and rejection of nationalist tendencies. But how much of that is fact versus myth?

The reality is that Canada doesn’t deal with many of the problems which we face in the United States precisely because it’s a very different and significantly smaller country. You can talk about their single-payer, socialized healthcare program all you like, but the fact is that it’s much easier to run such a system when you have far fewer potential clients. Canada’s population is only 35 million, which doesn’t even add up to the number we have just in California. Similarly, we constantly hear about how the tolerant and progressive Canadians don’t deal with the same problems of racism as we do in the United States. It’s not that impressive of a trick when you consider that Canada is almost entirely white (over 80% of the population is Caucasian including 4% aboriginal) , with less than 3% of their population being black and barely 1% Latin American. Not exactly a picture of diversity there.

Now, however, they are being forced to deal with some of the same problems we’ve been battling for the last century. Their illegal immigration situation is still minuscule compared to ours because they’re only dealing with a few hundred people over the past few months. But that’s clearly bad enough to get them riled up and in the mood to start kicking out some foreigners. For his part, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau came out early and said that he had no intention of deporting the new illegal arrivals. We’ll be waiting to see how strong his resolve is if his poll numbers continue to plummet in advance of the next election.

We should be able to demonstrate some empathy for our Canadian friends, particularly given the fact that we’ve been battling the same intractable issues for so long ourselves. But a less charitable portion of my brain still wants to quote Bruce Willis from one of those Die Hard movies. Welcome to the party, pal.

How long before a Canadian pol starts campaigning for a wall on their southern border and making us pay for it? LOL

Canada has seen the light, they have had a generous refugee program, but have never dealt with asylum seekers on home territory, this experience will bring about a change in attitude. Australia has the attitude it does to prevent people dying in crossing over and Canada may have to go the same way. The problem is small but it could grow if Dump starts deportations in large numbers. Don't ya just love it when a plan comes together?

It's only a matter of time before Ca starts locking them up and turning them over to immigration because Trump shutting off their access to fedral grant money will soon cause them to have a sudden change of heart.

You can't seriously compare America to the Muslim hellholes most of them came from.

America is not Iran. America is not Saudi Arabia. Or Syria. Or Iraq. Etc.

It has nothing to do with the ME rat holes they came from, most have never seen a big mountain or grass or trees, no, it is about the leadership, the attitude, and the police state. They don't want their IDs checked, or to go through the process

The Muslims would love to come here or to america in the same way they wanted to come to Europe, no questions asked, just turn up and come in and soak up all the welfare they can find. Most of them have little skills, that is why you find them as taxi drivers or dish washers, or janitors. But they are used to living with little

Tuff shit. They should stay where they are, and not come here where they are not wanted. If their home country has problems, they should stay there and fix the problems.

ever try fixing problems when bombs are falling or bullets flying? they have left, for the most part, because the conditions are unlivable, this doesn't justify terrorism but it does inform us as to why they have moved. It is easy to sit in relative safety and say fix your problems but someone has tried to fix the problem with a gun. The powers in this world have not succeeded in fixing the problems, just making bigger problems and you say to individuals fix your problems, I say to you fix the problems in your own country before you stuff up another because it is the actions of your country that created this problem

It is their country. It is no one else's responsibility to fix those problems. Yes, it may be difficult, but that is what it is. That does not justify them to come to another country and fuck it up. You may think that is OK. Fine, then YOU take them in and take care of them, and when they start to fuck up your country, then YOU STFU !!

As to your : " I say to you fix the problems in your own country before you stuff up another . . . " then I guess you will practice what you preach, and until you turn your country into heaven on earth, you will keep your snowflake mouth shut about issues here in the USA! OK ?

I say to you practice what you preach. Go tell that to George W Bush, go tell that to Barack Obama, in fact go tell it to all the living past presidents and white house sycophants. You can't tell muslims to fix their problems when it is your interference that created the situation

Your country has not fixed any problems since the Korean war and you can't really say that was done and dusted, and for your information my country is heaven on Earth compared to yours
