United States News Title: Fort Myers Nightclub Shooting: 2 Dead, at Least 14 Others Reportedly Wounded FORT MYERS, Fla. - Three people have been detained and are being questioned by police after a shooting near a Fort Myers nightclub that left 2 dead and up to 16 injured. Multiple law enforcement units responded to at least three locations in Fort Myers after reports of shots fired early Monday morning. The first call came in just before 1 a.m. on Monday. The first scene is near the Club Blu Bar & Grill near the intersection of Evans Avenue and Carrell Road. When police arrived to the scene they found several victims suffering from gunshot wounds. The injuries of the victims range from minor to life threatening and they were all transported to local hospitals. There were other victims injured but they left the scene on their own and were treated at area hospitals. Fort Myers police have "deemed the area safe" and say there are up to 16 people who are injured. Two victims have been confirmed dead. Investigators are working to identify the victims. Officials with the Lee Memorial Health System say victims began arriving at the hospital around 1:30 a.m. on Monday. Of the 16 victims, their ages range from 12 to 27 years old. Four victims remain at the Lee Memorial Hospital. Of those four, two were admitted to the ICU, one is in serious condition and one is in critical condition. One person was admitted to the hospital in fair condition and all other victims were treated and released. There was one victim who was treated and released at Cape Coral Hospital. Police say there are two other locations involved in this shooting. The second location is 2550 Parkway Street. At this location, it appears a residence and vehicles were shot and police say there was one minor injury reported. A third incident occurred on Ortiz Avenue between Luckett Road and Ballard Road and police say they have detained three people who they believe are connected to the incidents. Club Blu posted a statement on their Facebook page. They said: "We are deeply sorry for all involved. We tried to give the teens WHAT WE THOUGHT WAS A SAFE PLACE TO HAVE A GOOD TIME. Ages 12-17. There was armed security as well as full security, inside and out. As the club was closing and parents were picking their children up.....that's when all this took place. There was nothing more we could of done az you see it was not kids at the party that did this despicable act." Read the Facebook post below, or click here. The Fort Myers Police Department and the Lee County Sheriff's Office are investigating and searching for people who may be involved in this shooting. The shooting in Fort Myers comes over a month after a shooting at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando that was the deadliest shooting in modern U.S. history. The shooting at the Pulse nightclub on June 12, 2016 left 49 victims dead and 53 others wounded. This is a developing story. Gee. I hope Deckard wasn't hurt.
Now we know why schools want to delay start times. Kids are out doing research late at night, and need to get in some sleep before learning about climate change, and how Heather has two mommies on some days, but two daddies at night.
