  • Young Britons voted in droves for Remain with 72 per cent against Brexit
  • Leave campaign won, with 56 per cent of 50 to 64-year-olds backing Brexit
  • Young people protested by Parliament and vented anger on social media

Millennials have slammed baby boomers for voting Britain out of the EU as furious crowds of young people protest in London.

Young Britons voted in their droves in favour of the Remain campaign with an incredible 72 per cent of 18 to 24-year-olds against a Brexit.

However despite their efforts, Leave won the referendum with 52 per cent thanks to the majority of older voters in England and Wales.

In response, Brits carrying placards and flags have staged a protest through the streets of London today, taking them from the Houses of Parliament, to Downing Street and London Bridge.

Many wore face paint and ignited flares as the hundreds of Britons marched towards the Shard, some carrying signs with the slogans 'no borders' and 'refugees welcome'.

Figures by YouGov revealed that 56 per cent of 50 to 64-year-olds voted for a Brexit and many young people took to social media to complain that they have been let down by the older generation.

BREXIT: HOW THE NATION VOTED

Below are the latest figures from pollsters YouGov,revealing that young people voted in their droves for the Remain campaign.

18-24: 75% Remain

25-49: 56% Remain

50-64: 44% Remain

65+: 39% Remain

As the young generations share their dismay at the future of the nation, Boris Johnson has made a pitch to be the Prime Minister of a new 'great' Britain outside the EU.

Triumphant Brexiteer Mr Johnson started to set out his vision for a revitalised, outward looking country in a speech just hours after his long-time rival tearfully declared that he would stand aside in the wake of the referendum Brexit vote.

Flanked by wife Samantha in Downing Street, David Cameron said he had been 'proud' to serve as Prime Minister for the past six years.

But he said it would not be right for him to be the 'captain of the ship' while the UK negotiated its exit from the EU.

It is now clear that whoever is in Downing Street will face a struggle to hold the UK together - as SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon warned it was now 'highly likely' that a second ballot on independence will be held north of the border.

well reality has come to swinging Britain, the continential holiday is over and the people who did all the work, and took the hard knocks, the silent majority, are not silent anymore. Look at the numbers and ask yourself who was it who didn't turn out to vote? 75% should have swung it but it didn't, the Scotish and Irish vote, and the muslim vote should have swung it. Fact is rhetoric doesn't cut it. These people don't understand democracy and now they think they can change the vote.

The question now is will the politicians have the guts to implement it? Will the Britons take their country back?

Just like Obama in 2014 when Congress was voted in Republican, and he said that the voters have spoken, but I need to speak for the people who didn't vote.

Obama has played at being a president while enjoying the perks … golf, insanely expensive vacations at tax-payer expense. He has ignored the responsibilities of the job; no plans, no budgets, no alternatives … just finger pointing; making him a complete failure as a president

While the mood and group expression of the slogans they are shouting is contageous, I don't see that the slogans, themselves, represent any substanial factuality. The forecasted catastophe appears highly doubtful. It appears what is occurring is a cathartic release of emotion from entirely alien areas being attached to irrelevant slogans and demonstrations. It's psychoanically known as a displacement reaction. Displacement reactions can be highly motivating, but are a poor foundation on which to base a government or government policy.

The asshole Millennials don't understand that the Older generations gave them their present and saved their future. But the asshole Millennials think that they are entitled to everything that the Older generations worked for - for nothing.

Right! There is an imaginary hord of people out there who all agree with me and deserve more representation than those who aren't imaginary. It's imposed fantasy island government by decree.

Or more likely that that article overplays what in reality a much smaller percentage of the Millennials that feel "sold out" by their elders. Remember that not 100% of the 50% of oldies voted for out nor 100% of the Millennials voted stay. The final tally was 52% Exit to 48% Remain. It will be interesting to see what the demographics of the final vote shows if UK officials have the means to mine that data. Going in the clear indication that the under 30s strongly supported remain while the 50+ "oldies" strongly supported out.

I don't believe that this is correct. See post #12, specifically the graph of voter turnout by median age.

36% of under-30s stayed home - only half as many over-50s did so.

Get off your asses and vote, morons. Or - better yet - don't ... your views are stupid and ignorant.

A government strong enough to impose your standards is strong enough to ban them.
