Wednesday on “CBS This Morning,” Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus said now that Donald Trump is the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, the “unification” process of the party was now underway.

Priebus said, “[Trump] will be the presumptive nominee. You’re not the presumptive nominee until you hit 1237. That being the case, I’m just stating the obvious. So look, where it leads is it’s time to unite is what it leads to.”

He continued, “Well, first of all, let me just remind everyone that’s what’s happening in the Republican party is pretty historic when you look at voter registration against the Democrats has never been better than in 25 years. Our fundraising in the first quarter at the RNC was an all-time record. We’ve raised more money than we did in 2012. What I’m telling you is that the fundamentals are the opposite of the narrative. Now, clearly when you have a race where you’ve got 17 candidates, and as of late two very serious candidates with serious campaigns, it’s not easy. It’s hard. I would be lying to you all if I said, this is easy. We’re going to pivot. You know what, we need to unify. We need time to unify and we will unify. This is what today starts, this unification process.”

Yes there's record breaking opposition. Millions registering to vote for someone other than Trump. Millions of dollars donated to candidates other than Trump.

The majority is for... someone other than Trump. Now that's unity!

Reince has said nothing, poorly.

Naturally - he's an apparatchik.

Yeah, I know. I guess everyone else will figure it out in November.

It will be too late. Trump will have mesmerized the STUPID people by then that Fascism is a good thing for America.

The voters spoke loud and clear. Trump for President. All the LOSERS combined won 5 primaries, two of those being home state results.

I'll give him some unification ..... From Peter Wehner at Commentary Mag.

Well done Republicans. Presented with the strongest presidential field in 36 years – filled with accomplished conservatives — you have succeeded in nominating a man who is enamored with conspiracy theories, from President Obama’s birth certificate (Obama wasn’t born in America) to vaccinations causing autism to the Bush administration lying our way into war with Iraq to Ted Cruz’s father being involved in the assassination of President Kennedy.

You have chosen as the leader of your party a man who has financially supported Harry Reid and Hillary Clinton and in 2004 praised John Kerry as a “great guy… a very smart guy,” who has ridiculed Ronald Reagan and called for the impeachment of George W. Bush. Who has praised President Obama (“he’s doing a really good job”) and his stimulus package (“this is what we need”). Who during this campaign has spoken out in praise of Planned Parenthood and in favor of punishing women who have abortions. Who has advocated government mandating that individuals purchase health insurance and a single-payer health care system. Who has supported race-based preferences and opposes entitlement reform (entitlement programs are the chief driver of our debt and their reform is the sine qua non of limited government). Who is “the least conservative Republican presidential aspirant in living memory.”

The party of Lincoln and Reagan now has as its de facto nominee a fierce protectionist, an unconcealed nativist, and a man who has run his campaign on “know-nothing xenophobia.” A man who is enamored with Vladimir Putin and endorses war crimes, including targeting the families of terrorists. Who promises to be “neutral” toward Israel and those who want to destroy Israel. Who said of ISIS, “that’s not our fight.” Who has slandered America in a way the Left usually does. Who can’t talk coherently about the nuclear triad, the difference between the Quds Force in Iran and the Kurds, or health care (“get rid of the lines around each state“). Who said he would eliminate our $19 trillion debt in eight years without touching entitlement programs while also pushing for a tax plan that would cut an additional $10 trillion in revenue. Who incites violence and promises to create a “deportation force” to forcibly remove 11 million undocumented immigrants from America. Who is a chronic liar. Who mocks former POWs and people with physical disabilities and compares his opponents to child molesters. And who has said, “if Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I’d be dating her.”

Oh, you’ve also chosen a man to lead your party who happens to be “the most unpopular major party nominee in the modern era, with nearly two-thirds saying they have an unfavorable opinion of him. More than half view him ‘very unfavorably’ or say they’re ‘scared’ of his candidacy — figures with no precedent among modern presidential nominees.”

Republicans, having effectively nominated Mr. Trump, now get to live with him. And politically they will die with him.

Congratulations.

Bwwwwwaaaaaahhhh !!!
17 neocon globalist BushObama clones, does not a conservative make.

The number of conservative GOP candidates? Zero. The RNC has declined to oppose Hillary, and will once again run the biggest loser they can find, Donald J. Trump.

Losin' is easy, and the donations large with a D prez. They'll be crying all the way to the bank.

Trump will finish with more GOP primary votes than anyone in history. He not only wins GOP votes, but independent votes, and Dem crossover votes. By design, he is not looking to the GOPe to deliver drone votes, he is looking to expand the voter base outside the party. The GOPe can come along or be left behind.

His opposition won a combined total of five primaries before throwing in the towel. Conventional wisdom predictions of general election failure come from the same people who continued to predict primary failure until they were steamrolled into submission.

Dem turnout for the primaries is down significantly. Bernie draws large crowds, Hillary does not. The new people turning out on the Dem side are the anti-establishment Sanders supporters. The new GOP voters are anti-establishment Trump supporters. They detest the ultra-estabishment Hillary.

Bernie also has done a good job of draining the swamp for donations.
