Washington (CNN)Rick Perry is not "getting out of the race" as Donald Trump suggested Thursday during a news conference.

"You know a broken clock is right once a day," Perry said. "The bottom line is I'm still here, I'm still workin'. We need to be talking about solutions and not just rhetoric out there."

The former Texas governor quickly shot down Trump's claim during an interview Thursday with Fox News that immediately followed a Trump press conference. The GOP front-runner claimed Perry, whose campaign is struggling, is dropping out of the race.

"One of the things that I'm most honored about is that so far everybody who's attacked me has gone down the tubes," Trump said. "You had Perry attacking me, now he's getting out of the race."

While Perry is not dropping out of the race, his campaign is in dire straits.

When a republican can only get the liberal leftist cnn to cover him you know he is in trouble.

Does anyone know of a Republican primary voter, other than Juan Bush supporters, who turn on the clinton communist network?

So who is Perry trying to reach? Certainly not pro-life, pro-closed borders, Pro-USA voters.

I've seen Perry on FNC in interview segments fairly often. The FNC news floosies usually start with some variety of "why are you such a loser and why haven't you dropped out?". So that is fairly consistent with what CNN was doing. Meaning that FNC may be no friendlier to a GOP candidate than CNN is.

So who is Perry trying to reach? Certainly not pro-life, pro-closed borders, Pro-USA voters.

When you recover from swooning over Trump's latest gaseous eruptions, maybe you should consider that Perry actually has a very strong and confrontational record on border security and against abortion.

Roar on.

Perry will stay in through New Hampshire, I think. He's tightened his belt and still has a good ground operation that is willing to stick with him.

Perry does sound kinda dumb at times. But he isn't. He actually sounds much smarter than Trump raving about "One of the things that I'm most honored about is that so far everybody who's attacked me has gone down the tubes".

It says a lot more about Trump and his monstrous ego than it does about Perry's campaign.

All that said, I tend to think Perry is more likely to combust spontaneously than to become the 2016 GOP nominee. But he does have a strong record on job growth and economic expansion, on being the most effective border governor, and on conservative bread-and-butter issues that conservative Republicans have supported for decades.

"Meaning that FNC may be no friendlier to a GOP candidate than CNN is."

With friends like FNC and Hugh Hewitt, who needs the other networks?

Would the MSM and liberal personalities go after their own like conservatives do? Never. But no safe haven for conservative candidates. Absolute bullshit.

Of course, after a Democrat is elected, the "conservative" media will go back to whining about the downfall of America. Yeah, THANKS TO YOU, ASSHOLES!

If anyone can convince me that Trump would be worse than any Democrat in the running, I'll change my tune.

FWIW, I would no more vote for Trump than I would for McStain, for much the same reasons. In many ways, Trump is almost identical to the Stain in terms of his flipflopping on major issues from guns to abortion to aggressive warfare to Bigger Government. The Stain is more warlike, Trump is more into "infrastructure spending" (Dem words in the New York context meaning lots of union jobs and contracts). Otherwise, Trump is just as undesirable as McStain is to me.

OTOH, I live in a safe Red state with a late primary which will vote GOP reliably, regardless of the nominee. So my one vote is pretty unimportant anyway.

It doesn't matter who the Dems are running. If the GOP has a candidate like Trump or McStain, I simply will not vote or I will vote third party.

We could do a lot worse than a President Rick Perry . He's also one of the few candidates in either party that has military experience .The only other Republican is Graham . The only Dem is Jim Webb . Perry was in the Air Force for 5 years and left as a Captain. I think national security will play a large part in this election ,and Perry has spent a lot of time travelling and schooling on the issues ;meeting world leaders .

So besides being a low taxes, deregulation, tort reform, Tenth Amendment man who has a record of success as Governor ,he has strong national security credentials .

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

"FWIW, I would no more vote for Trump than I would for McStain"

Where is the support for any other primary candidate? Who's going to turn out at the polls for Perry? Huckabee? Kasich? Rubio?

So Trump flip-flopped. He flip-flopped to the conservative position.

You're just pissed off because he didn't "stand on principle" and maintain his old positions so you'd have an actual, legitimate reason to oppose him.

Alas, all you have now is your petulant whining.

Will you sign a pledge to support (ie., vote for) the Repubican candidate -- whoever that is?

You know, like Trump did?

No he isn't but he comes across that way cause he doesn't prepare for the inevitable MSM "gotcha moments". Along with that he's from Texas and we all know what most people think of the "Bush Boys"...

We could do a lot worse than a President Rick Perry .

On the other hand he started letting illegals pay state citizen college tuition rates instead of making them pay out of state rate. The positive side to this is at least "HE MADE THEM PAY" vs giving it to them free like some other states. So people will latch onto this and use it to say he isn't qualified to be a dogcatcher much less the POTUS. You know sooner or later the MSM or Tea Party will use it against him...

You know, like Trump did?

You may recall I said repeatedly that Trump shouldn't sign any pledge to endorse the eventual GOP nominee. However, it is appropriate for any party to demand that those running for its nomination refrain from running third-party if they can't get the nomination from the first party. This would stop, for instance, an idiot like Teddy Roosevelt from running Republican and then starting his dumb Bullmoose Party.

My own standard is that if someone has been a flaming NYC liberal Democrat for decades until five years ago, I think they're fake Republicans. And that people who support them are cretins. Or liars who utterly hate conservatives and Republicans alike, just like Vicomte13 does.

I don't think Trump is even as conservative as Pataki or Giuliani. And I would consider voting for either of them before I would ever vote for Trump.
