  • The News Corp CEO used his personal Twitter account to endorse his fellow billionaire
  • Bloomberg has made no moves suggesting he'll run, but for years reports have suggested he once longed to make White House bid
  • Meanwhile, Murdoch's Fox News is fresh off a heated feud with the Republican frontrunner Trump

p class="mol-para-with-font">Rupert Murdoch wants his fellow billionaire Michael Bloomberg to run for president.

The Australian media tycoon took to his personal Twitter account Sunday to urge the former New York City mayor, who for years has been reported to have designs on the White House, to make a presidential bid.

'With Trump becoming very serious candidate, it's time for next billionaire candidate, Mike Bloomberg to step into ring. Greatest mayor,' he wrote.

Billionaire buddies: Rupert Murdoch wants his fellow billionaire Michael Bloomberg to run for president

While Bloomberg has made no moves in that direction, Murdoch's words come at a moment of tensions between his News Corp. and the Republican frontrunner.

Trump and Fox News, one of the most powerful voices in Republican and conservative circles, were in a bitter feud since this month's presidential debate.

While he lead all the polls, the former reality television star drew heated criticism from many in his own party for saying Fox moderator Megyn Kelly had 'blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever.'

The network's chairman, Roger Ailes, felt the need to reach out to Trump directly, assuring him he'll be 'treated fairly' by the station, Trump tweeted.

Murdoch, apparently from a Great Barrier Reef holiday, didn't elaborate on his views on Trump, though he did continue to tweet about his friend Bloomberg.

'Agree much about Bloomberg, nannystate, etc, but still a great philanthropic executive who, with Guiliani, made NY the greatest,' he wrote.

And just prevent any confusion about his support of a candidate who's distanced himself from conservatives in multiple ways and who last ran as an independent, Murdoch tweeted:

'I did not say I would vote for him! Just a friend I admire.'

The centerpiece of his campaign would be a Federal ban on the Big Gulp.

He inherited his money,didn't he?

He invented the computer data terminals used at all the stock exchanges around the world. Supposedly worth $20 billion.

Not sure.

He's made billions selling access to his computer, though.

He used to require clients lease proprietary dumb terminals and communication controllers from his company.

Talk about a cash cow, that one was the envy of the industry.

There are three kinds of people in the world: those that can add and those that can't

That doesn't seem possible.

Maybe he bought it from some software firm and then packaged and sold it?
