"You are the only true Christian sovereign under the sky! Two Romes have fallen, but the third stands and a fourth there shall not be.”

Russian MP urges Facebook blockage in country over rainbow flag AFP, Moscow| Updated: Jun 28, 2015 21:12 IST

According to Russian lawmaker Vitaly Milonov, Facebook should be shut down in Russia over its support for the US Supreme Court's decision to legalise same-sex marriage.

He said he would formally request Russia's telecoms oversight agency to shut down Facebook which has introduced a function allowing users to decorate their profiles with the rainbow flag of the gay rights movement.

"It is a crude violation of Russian legislation. Facebook has no age limits, it is impossible to control how many minors are there," Saint Petersburg lawmaker Milonov said on Russian radio Saturday evening.

"That is why it would be completely normal to pull the plug on Facebook in Russia."

Milonov, who sits in the regional parliament of Saint Petersburg, introduced a law in the city banning "propaganda" of gay relationships to minors before a similar federal law was adopted and came into force in 2013, sparking international controversy.

Milonov said he would petition Roskomnadzor, Russia's telecoms oversight agency, and if that does not help he would appeal to the FSB security service and President Vladimir Putin personally.

"I would call on thousands of people and we will write to the FSB and Putin," he said.

"Any normal person would not leave this unnoticed. If Roskomnadzor does then they play on the side of those who whish harm to our homeland."

In a show of support for the US Supreme Court's historic decision, many Russians added a rainbow filter to their Facebook profile photos.

Milonov's words drew disdain from activists, and a picture of Milonov superimposed against the rainbow flag was making the rounds on social media.

To celebrate the US Supreme Court's ruling, the White House was on Friday lit up in rainbow colours.

Some activists said that Russia, too, would one day uphold gay people's right to marry but they would unlikely live long enough to see that day.

"Mostly likely I will not live to see the day when some democratic, honestly-elected president illuminates the Kremlin in rainbow colours for one day," journalist and activist Anton Krasovsky said on Facebook.

"There will be happiness. For sure. Because love wins," wrote Elena Kostyuchenko, the openly gay correspondent for Russia's top opposition newspaper Novaya Gazeta.

In 2013, Russia passed a hugely controversial law banning the promotion or display of homosexuality in front of minors. Russia has also adopted legislation banning adoptions by gay parents.

Homophobia remains widespread in the country, and almost no public figures have come out as gay.

Homophobia remains widespread in the country, and almost no public figures have come out as gay.

Maybe that's because there is less gay salesmanship, less social pressure to become gay, and fewer gays.

This use of the word homophobia betrays a sympathy with the homosexual mission of pursuing or subtly imposing public acceptance.

Homophobia

People keep using this word, yet I do not think it means what they think it means:

Homophobia- Fear of sameness, monotony or of homosexuality or of becoming homosexual. - http://phobialist.com/#H-

There is no end to the number of people or groups that use a word to call other people or groups irrational. Using a term to define an opinion as an irrational fear is like saying people who dislike taxes fear that the government is going to kill them if taxes are imposed. The statement is of course false, yet equating the dislike of taxes to a fictional fear is not only unfounded, it is likely closer to libel.

Wikipedia uses a basic definition of a phobia to a fairly accurate level:

In clinical psychology, a phobia is a type of anxiety disorder, usually defined as a persistent fear of an object or situation in which the sufferer commits to great lengths in avoiding, typically disproportional to the actual danger posed, often being recognized as irrational. In the event the phobia cannot be avoided entirely, the sufferer will endure the situation or object with marked distress and significant interference in social or occupational activities.

In the popular and modern use of the term "homophobia", the wielder of the word assumes that the intended target of the word is indeed suffering from a "clinical disorder". This is oddly ironic since many people who are called homophobic believe that homosexuality is a dimensional behavior that can considered a "clinical disorder".

The world is full of contradictions that few people understand, if they even care to in the first place.

Perhaps some people are suffering from a particularly sinister and little understood phobia: Allodoxaphobia- Fear of opinions.

From www.fearof.net/fear-of-opinions-phobia-allodoxaphobia/

Symptoms of fear of opinions phobia

An Allodoxaphobic individual suffers from many symptoms, both physical and emotional. These folks are simply afraid of listening to feedback of any kind. It literally causes a full blown panic attack that includes:

*Sweaty palms

*Accelerated heart rate, rapid and shallow breathing

*Feeling sick, nauseated

*Feeling angry when an opinion is expressed-no matter good or bad

*Flight or fight response- trying to avoid all situations where an opinion might be expressed.

*Insecurity, lack of self esteem

The word has come to mean being anti-homo but that was not the root of the word.

Homophobia is a word used by faggots. It means they are insecure. Anyone who uses the word is wasting our air.

Homophobia

People keep using this word, yet I do not think it means what they think it means:

Phobia was originally a medical term. My Tabers Encyclopedic Medical Dictionary defines it as: Any persistant and irrational fear of a specific object, activity, or situation that results in a compelling desire to avoid the feared or phobic stimulus.

The suffix has been expropriated by people with intention of applying it as a clinically established form of irrationality to anything to which they disagree. In short, it has become a propaganda tool.

I am still under the impression that many who use the term homophobe are really suffering from Allodoxaphobia or just really stupid.

But yes, it is also used as a propaganda tool to advance a certain agenda or agendas.
