This is not a link to any article but I am getting the impression the Republicans who support wars and increasing the military's budget and the so called hawk mentality are really freaked out over Rand Paul and the only reason Graham is running is to make sure that Paul does not win Republican voters over to his side. Graham, was actually seen as sort of a less vocal hawk a few years ago. His current tough guy persona seems fake - like he was hired to play a part by a lobby group.

It's not just the Republican wing, neocon warhawk Hillary is worried too. They don't really care who wins, as long as it isn't anyone pro-American. Paul it at the top of the D&R party hit list.

Graham is perhaps the most obvious Rand Paul troll. Rick Santorum is running to help further split the vote, for a Marco Rubio nomination, IMO.

Santorum announces candidacy at 4:30

The D&R terrorists hate us because we're free, to vote second party

Is Lindsey Graham's only reason for running as pres to make sure Rand Paul does not win over GOP converts so they party can remain hawkish?

Exactly how is Graham supposed to affect Paul's primary performance?

Am I to believe that Paul's supporters' second choice is Graham? That Graham's profound, thought-provoking statements will win hearts and minds? Please. This idiot is more in the Giuliani "muh terrorists!" mold.

It works like on Freerepublic - when you go against the grain you get a few people that follow you around and denounce you and it is a very effective technique. For some reason American conservatives seem to be more group thinking than commies. It is all about ideological purity, party orthodoxy and tamping down dissent. God forbid anyone mentions the failins of the 5 year plan (in this case how the interventionist ideology caused the debacle in the middle east).

I think he has made that clear. Graham's run is a joke and what amazes me is that no-one in GOP is calling our Graham for being Democrats tool.

They want to muddy the waters. Get as many leftist Repubs to run as they can, split the support. You know the R party would rather have Hillary than Paul.

Glad you brought that up.

I have found that when someone like Cheney or Palin have made public statements about Obama being weak on foreign policy reacting to some related news issue, that is when JR attacks libertarians and all others on that site who are skeptical of Bush type nation building.

Example ,early 2010 after the shoe bomber. But by 2011 the Bushies were in hot water with the Palinistas there and many of the Bushbots were run off there, also JR's hero Dick Cheney came out for gay marriage, OWCH! That must of hurt.

He still curses out Rand Paul from time to time,.

One last note on this, ohiowfan. She fled there for good because of so much Bush bashing

ohiowfan sounds familiar - if Freerepublic was a country, they would have had gulags and death squads and she would have been an eager killer for the freeper party until they turned on her too. If I remember her correctly, she was one of the worst.

Freerepublic is sort of the main reason I left the American conservatives and re-rooted my ideology in classical European conservatism - strong Christian social bonds inside a market economy. This has almost no analogue here in America because Christian and conservative tends to sound like Rep. Bachmann.

I am more like Angela Merkel's kids of Christian conservative.

There are way too many stories about her to tell in a comment, she posted like a nutbag. Your assessment of her is correct,

On Bachmann, she's very entertaining but sometimes says some pretty nutty stuff herself.

That would be true if only those two were in the race, but that is not nearly true,.

I have come to the same conclusion long before this post,

Graham knows he has no chance of winning this, he just is trying to get Republican primary voters to reject Paul.

I saw Graham in a clip praising Hillary's hawkishness and dissing Paul.

He made it obvious.

I wanted to get back to you on this. That is going on there right now again.

I used to post FR stuff at liberty post and in late 2010 I noticed that JR posted a new rules thread that was identical to his one in 2004 except it was missing the paragraph saying that FR posters must support the 'Bush doctrine' of invasion and nation building. I posted a thread there pointing this out,

Clearly something went wrong, he must have decided in just that year that demanding that was losing him donations.

Removed paragraph: “In our continuing fight for freedom, for America and our constitution and against totalitarianism, socialism, tyranny, terrorism, etc., Free Republic stands firmly on the side of right, i.e., the conservative side. Believing that the best defense is a strong offense, we (myself and those whom I'm trying to attract to FR) support the strategy of taking the fight to the enemy as opposed to allowing the enemy the luxury of conducting their attacks on us at home on their terms and on their schedule. “ “Therefore, we wholeheartedly support the Bush Doctrine of pre-emptive strikes on known terrorist states and organizations that are believed to present a clear threat to our freedom or national security..”

I can't disagree.

Miz Lindsey is just a mouthpiece for Joe Liebertroll, like McStain was and still is. If you want to know what either one of them thinks, just ask Liebertroll what his opinion on any topic is.

I was looking at older comments here recently and saw LP being referred to as 'TOS' in at least one.

I like giving JR credit for his megalomaniac like antics.

There are a couple other sites that other ex-freepers have gone to , TBL and Rights-Right, that actually delete accounts for infrequent comment postings. Its the dumbest thing. They only want active posters being able to read the posts and comments.
