Title: Have You Noticed: LF Stats are Skewed?

For almost any article on LF, anymore, there are thousands of views. Have you noticed?

For a wee little chit-chat channel on the out-skirts of the Internet with little meaningful existence, the stats are of no significance anymore as the views/posts ratio are dramatically skewed into absurdity.

You can take that a few ways buck, some are just viewing here so they have juicy little tidbits to take back to their forum. Some people can't handle rejection and don't like being proved they're wrong and hence don't post. Or maybe the New and Improved "Internet Nazis" are keeping track of what gets said here so they know who they want to put in FEMA camps later. :)

Take your pick! Can you think of any others?

Do we get three square meals a day in the FEMA camps? Man, have you noticed the cost of food these days? I purchased 4 USDA Grade CHOICE steaks yesterday and it cost over 42 bucks. According to the US government: there ain't no inflation here!

Most likely, just search engine spiders indexing and re-indexing content. LF doesn't distinguish between search engines and actual live users.

Unlike LP and 4um, LF allows all spiders to index it. LP and 4um allowed no indexing except their front pages.

What "stats"? This thread seems to have real meaning to some commenters. You're referring to something, somewhere, some "stats". But where? And what do they speak of?

And how are they "skewed"?

Good questions.

At the moment, here are this thread's stats:

This is soon to change because I am posting a comment. I shall edit this post to show the difference in about one minute.

The skewing is a ratio of views to comments; typically on chit-chat channels the ratio is about 4 to 6. But if you view a pile of threads from yesterday on LF, there are thousands of views to just a handful of posts. It doesn't make sense to see the skewing.

Edit:

GREAT. Grab another freezer and store away some of your best foods o' likening. With today's technologies, the energy costs are minor. Don't forget to ensure proper freezer conditions of near 0 degrees F. Ensure proper freezer containers made of polypropylene or other FG materials to avoid freezer burn. Throw in some oxygen-absorbers to ensure longevity of the food supply.

EXCELLENT. I have two 18.5 cubic feet freezers; each have different contents for storage by intent: 1) short term (ST): food for daily, weekly or monthly storage and 2) long term (LT) storage. These are the "chest style freezer" so they take up floor space BUT this style of freezer doesn't consume the enormous amount of energy as other styles of freezers. The freezers are located in the garage.

Do you enjoy farmer's syle pork chops? I do. These are the thick, juicy cuts of pork chops that are rarely served restaurants. Most restaurants (even the best ones) serve silly, salted thin pork chops that are fast cooked by some illegal Mexican called , "a chef."

I pulled out a couple chops from the LT freezer. My vacuum bag listed the contents from 2009; six year old chops tasted like I just purchased them from the hog farm, and that is a FACT.

You are right on track, CZ82. Keep up the GREAT work for yourself & family well-being.

Again, I haven't paid an electricity bill since the installation of the solar-voltaic system. I need to review the "cost effective point" ... all I wanted was to eliminate bills to ensure the quality of my life which is to enjoy about an 80 degree F constant temperature.

The quality of life I enjoy is no too bad.

Just think ... this fine story can be told to your wee little grandson.

You can start the great story, by saying ...

"one niight on the Internet there was this ebil buckeroo and he pulled the chit-chat channels down right while I was typing bullshit! And then I told him off about 20 minutes later after he released his DoS attack! Yeah, it was all I could do as tater to observe and respect."

2. If you are generating lots of traffic on a 3rd party web site (for example your web host service provider) in order to test server's capacity under stress, you need to consult with the owner of the web site first. At least, don't do it for an extended period of time. If you are storming a shared web server other users may be disturbed by your action.

I shall be happy to help you in your anguish, tater.

Minor "ping" applications reveal the same IP addy; in fact you can perform the same using some MS_DOS commands if you wanted to learn how to use your machine. These applications you bring up are relational; they are static and don't mean much other than a "ping." They don't reveal tens of thousands of IPs to an Internet server as this vibrant LF forum.

But, you use the tried & true click the manual mouse, 'eh?

Being someone intimately familiar with trying to create fake traffic, I am not surprised you would be curious about this.

Must really grind your gears stone put the halt to you using multi ids, and frustrating to you that you haven't figured out yet how to do it anonymously without getting busted.

Interesting to see so many page views on some threads. That seems excessive, beyond what you'd expect from the search spiders. Perhaps it should be looked at more if it's using up your bandwidth.

The 125K views is surprising, but it was posted in 2010, so that comes to less than 2K per month.

The servers BW allotment easily covers the current load so I'm not worried right now.

You have to wonder when the traffic occurred, since 2010 or a burst of pageviews more recently. Maybe someone is linking to these these threads for some reason.

Apparently it is not necessary for him to even do that. It seems the One Million Clicks software program has an integrated Internet Explorer browser. Whereby the specified visits to the thread at intervals specified simulates a real visit on that page. Consequently, all scripts, images, counters and so on contained by that web page will be also refreshed. Therefore when using the embedded proxy module, he can simulate traffic from all over the world so nobody can detect that his traffic is coming from a single computer.

hondo68: It's the ACLU, The Southern Poverty Law Center, and Stormfront monitoring the Canary Klan's posts, for talking points.

Fred Mertz: That explains everything.

Looking past the sarcasm for a real explanation, someone is probably using a software program to simulate real web traffic on a specified page from all over the world from different IPs. The traffic amount, or clicks per second, are precisely controlled. It carries full support for cookies, Java, Java Script, XML and etc. The program is smart and stops itself when the targeted amount of traffic is reached. The user defined settings and statistics are saved to disk and reloaded automatically the next time the program starts. It even saves projects to disk and easy to use with an embedded help system. It maintains lists of web sites and different traffic settings for each web site can be specified. There is the capability to temporarily suspend, pause, the activity and then resume it. And OMG. it can generate traffic on multiple threads simultaneously with multithreading technology. It is highly customizable, portable. Using the program requires no installation and all someone has to do is just download it and run it.

Now, that explains everything better….right, Fred?

Do you enjoy farmer's syle pork chops? I do. These are the thick, juicy cuts of pork chops that are rarely served restaurants. Most restaurants (even the best ones) serve silly, salted thin pork chops that are fast cooked by some illegal Mexican called , "a chef."

Can't say that I've ever done the real thick chops before. I usually smoke/grille 4-5lb butts/shoulders and breading loins to make sandwiches.

I buy all of my spices from a place in Chicago called The Spice House, everything is ground/mixed fresh every couple of days. Much better than what you find in the stores cause in the stores you don't know how long it's been on the shelf. They have all kinds of spice mixtures made for all the different meats and most of them are really good. They have 4 or 5 mixtures that go good on pork, you should check it out.

What you have are accusations, not evidence.

There are plenty of other ways to write scripts or compile programs to scrape a site or generate hits. You're way too focused on this Million Clicks thing. You might recall that I demonstrated back at LP how easy it is to roll up a short Bash script to do such things. Easy enough that anyone can do it, especially Linux users and Mac people who run an OS that comes with all the needed tools (which Windows mostly lacks out of the box).

Sonny, I am more than just “relevant.” I have always had significant and demonstrable bearing on the matters at hand at all times by constantly affording strong evidence that proves or disproves the matters at issue or under discussion. The information I present is applicable, apposite, apropos, germane, relative and pertinent. I present more social relevance in one sentence that you can ever try to have in hundreds of your posts.

Deckard is a bounty hunter with the San Francisco Police Department, who goes after "andys" as they are called. He begins the story as a selfish, self-involved cop who sees no value in android life. His experiences within the novel cause him to develop empathy towards androids and all living things.

Oh...you forget "monumental stupidity" and "insanity."

Oh, but I didn’t forget anything….I never do. I gave serious thought to the issues of stupidity and insanity. In doing so, I took into account that stupidity is the lack of rationality while insanity is linked with the presence of abnormality. Ergo, the reason I did not discuss stupidity and insanity was because you were not personally mentioned in the information block. And honestly, I just could see no logical reason to mention your intellectual or mental shortcomings.

Touché - for that direct hit on my notable and somewhat worthy opponent.
Furthermore, the information block is fully auspicious in every manner in that it has the inherent successful adjective quality function to appear at fitting moments and advantageous times. Therefore, we will leave it as it is. However, I do want to sincerely thank you for trying to give me what you thought to be kind and wise advice….I trust that did not tax you too much.

After careful and due consideration, I have decided that the information block will continue to stand as is....like this:
