Title: Eagles signing Tebow on Monday

He’s back.

After a two-season exile, the man who took the Broncos to the divisional round in 2011 before being summarily dumped for Peyton Manning will have a new job in the NFL.

Per Jay Glazer of FOX Sports, Tim Tebow will sign with the Eagles on Monday. (Yes, Glazer has the scoop, even though Tebow works for ESPN.)

Traded to the Jets in March 2012, Tebow had a single, disastrous season in New York. Cut by the Jets, the Patriots gave him a look in the 2013 offseason, training camp, and preseason. Tebow didn’t make the 53-man roster, and he hasn’t been heard from again.

The Eagles gave Tebow a workout on March 16, and they reportedly would be inclined to sign him only if Matt Barkley were traded. Barkley hasn’t been traded, and the connection never made sense; with 90 roster spots in the offseason and plenty of quarterbacks needed to distribute the ball during practice sessions.

Tebow arrives with the opening of the offseason program in Philadelphia, rejoining Mark Sanchez and a depth chart that also includes Sam Bradford, Barkley, and G.J. Kinne. With Bradford still rehabbing a torn ACL suffered last August, Tebow becomes as a practical matter the fourth quarterback who is able to participate in practice session that will begin after a two-week lifting/conditioning period.

I'd love to see Tebow back in action again. He deserves it.

How is a QB (with NO seasoning) who led his team into the playoffs, and QB'd his team to a AFC Championship game by ANY measure considered a "failure"?? ANSWER: the know-it-all know-nuthins, anti-Christians and atheist whiners deemed it so.

Yeah - I like the way they set up the story too.Traded to the Jets in March 2012, Tebow had a single, disastrous season in New York.

The Jets had a "disastrous" season (6-10 )- Tebow didn't.

In fact it is my contention that if they HAD played Tebow, it's likely they would have made it too the playoffs.

It should be interesting to see how he can play if he is better matched to a team and they tamp down most of the Virgin Quarterback coverage which was pretty silly stuff.

Seems odd that Michael Vick and Hernandez and other NFL animals are fine to play but Tebow was singled out as just plain unacceptable to liberal sports media. They hated him for no good reason.

Ha! Yeah. Can't blame Tebow for their disaster. So d*mn disingenuous and intellectually dishonest a critique. We know what they did -- they purposely buried and blackballed him.

We'll never know...(that's the way they wanted it) but he sure would have been better than Sanchez.

It could be that Tebow just doesn't have the pro moxie to play at the top level of the NFL. Like the Michael Sams didn't have the chops to play pro ball.

We'd never have even heard of either one except that one was the Virgin Quarterback and the other one was the First Openly Gay Football Player. In other words, the most attention they got as players had nothing to do with their professional sport.

People get emotionally invested in these sideshow issues because of all the media coverage, most of it intended to get fans to react viscerally rather than rationally.

I followed Tebow closely when he was in Denver. He is a great athlete but definitely not a NFL quarterback. He probably could have made it in the NFL at another position (e.g. - receiver) had he had the background.

Tebow has mostly "signed with the Eagles" as a practice dummy. He's #4 out of 4 quarterbacks for the Eagles.

The Philadelphia Eagles plan to bring in quarterback Tim Tebow and sign him Monday as they begin their offseason program, FOX Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer reports. Multiple outlets later confirmed the report.

The Eagles are looking for a fourth quarterback for their offseason program. After spending time with Tebow's quarterbacks coach Tom House, the Eagles are convinced he's improved a lot, Glazer reports.

Tebow, who hasn't played in an NFL regular season game since 2012, was brought in for a workout for the Eagles last month.

"I've always been a fan of Tim," Kelly told NFL Network last month. "We bring in a lot of players for private workouts, it's just he's the one that everyone keeps talking about. We brought in Terrelle Pryor for a workout and Thad Lewis in for a workout. When players are available for you to work them out, it's the same thing of going to the veteran combine or going to the super regional combine.

"It's getting an exposure to a player so that when you have to make a decision and say, 'Hey, what are we going to do now?' you say, 'I don't know anything about these players. Let's bring them in and work them out,' and it may be too late at that point in time. So all we're doing is just doing our homework."

The Eagles traded for quarterback Sam Bradford earlier this offseason and signed Mark Sanchez to an extension. Matt Barkley currently sits third on the depth chart.

Tebow hasn't played in the NFL since he was with the New York Jets in 2012. He was released by the New England Patriots before the 2013 season and spent last year working in television as an analyst for the SEC Network and ESPN.

It's a little premature to get lathered up over the Second Coming Of Tim Tebow.

I'd also followed Tebow's QBing exploits closely, and watched NFL football for a good 50 years.

NEWSFLASH: Tim Tebow IS a Quarterback. That's the position he's excelled at. True, he wasn't nearly the prototypical QB. But he IS an "NFL QB." You don't go 8-3 if you're not an "NFL QB. It's impossible. OR win several games during Crunch Time through sheer will. What kind of "expert" dismisses ANY quarterback who wins 8 out of his first 11 games, including a playoff game? Moreover, people somehow forget that Tebow was a rookie with virtually NO seasoning. He doesn't QB a single game for the Jets, yet the media proclaims HIM a "disaster"?? On what planet is that the case...when you don't even play??

Tebow has some obvious mechanical problems, as well as problems reading defenses. Again, typical. He's made strides to improve his mechanics; *Only* experience will help any QB read defenses.

For SOME reason, teams don't want to give this guy a chance to become the winning QB and leader he is (*cough media*) And THAT reason is Tebow's open Christian faith (somehow deemed "polarizing" by the heathen media) worn on his sleeve.

So now the situation is such that what we have is the Liberal Media not only deciding which laws are enforced and changed (*cough Indiana*)...as well as which players are quarterback.

.....that and he was the first college sophomore to win the Heisman trophy. He was also the MVP of a national championship team. He held the Southeastern Conference's all-time records in both career passing efficiency and total rushing touchdowns . As has already been mentioned ,he went on to lead the Broncos to the playoffs in his rookie season after the team had gone 1-4 before he became the started . I'm not saying he'll ever be a great NFL QB . But the system that the Eagles run looks tailor made for Tebow's style of play .

Ok, cute reference ("Second Coming" -- HA, we get it.)

Coach Kelley and his coaching staff have obvious liked what they've seen and heard from Tebow. They do realize he's a winner and brings a different dimension.

With the way QBs get hurt and under-perform, Tebow is a valuable asset. Kelley runs a QB "system," so it's possible Tebow's set of skills will work much like a "special ops" for situations.

Can Tebow win a #1 QB job? Why not?

"It's getting an exposure to a player so that when you have to make a decision and say, 'Hey, what are we going to do now?' you say, 'I don't know anything about these players. Let's bring them in and work them out,' and it may be too late at that point in time. So all we're doing is just doing our homework."
Let Kelley make a football decision; not a social decision.

Worth repeating. The Eagles are a team who runs a system. You can be sure it'll take advantage of Tebow's skill set.

Btw, how many QBs are used to winning close games? THAT is on Tebow's NFL resume.

HUH?? "Moxie"?? Are you sure you understand the definition of that word? Tebow has it to the nines. He's *already* "played at the top level of the NFL." Where you been??

Like the Michael Sams didn't have the chops to play pro ball.

Seriously -- do you watch football much? Sams ballyhooed college sacks were accomplished vs. bad teams. Totally overrated and chosen co-Defensive Player of the Year in his conference ...BECAUSE he was gay. He stinks. LBs are a dime a dozen.

Dream on. His passing stats tell it all. His career QB rating is a pathetic. You can't be a NFL quarter to begin with, and certainly not for long, on just you running ability. He's a terribly inconsistent passer. His mechanics will never make the grade. This is my last word on this subject. You may have the final words. Young Mr. Tebow is really not an NFL quarterback.

IMHO by this time next year, he will be coaching under Urban Meyer at The Ohio State University.

Dream on. His passing stats tell it all.

You know what they say about stats, right? In his case, they "tell" the story of a winner. Regular season record: 8-6. Post season: 1-1. Won several games in final drives AGAINST NFL defenses. You say stats? 17 TD passes, 9 INTs. His 2011 season was one most rookies (which practically NO seasoning) can only dream about.

You can't be a NFL quarter to begin with, and certainly not for long, on just you running ability. He's a terribly inconsistent passer. His mechanics will never make the grade.

Firstly, he's ALREADY proven his style is a winner. FOR HIM. And his teams.

Secondly, yes, he's an inconsistent passer -- as are most rookie QBs. Bradshaw stunk it up for his first few years. Many other QB have stunk as well....BUT *they* were given a chance to improve and watch. And yes, improve his mechanics. Why not wait on Tebow?? (we know the reason: POLITICS.)

Hopefully you would like to bet on him if he gets the job?

Bet on what? That he'll be a winner?? You bet. He's never failed. The man possesses a proven, extraordinary will and leadership quality.

Funny then how the Denver Broncos not only won their division with "no NFL QB" at the helm, but beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in a playoff game. WITH "No NFL Quarterback." In fact, "No NFL Quarterback" threw 3 TD passes in that game. (check that -- 2 TD passes.)

Replaced by some unknown, unproven journeyman QB....Peyton Manning. Heard of the guy?

I saw a clip of him hitting a golf ball 340+ yards. He's awesome.

Yeah, saw it. Tebow could also be a pro-golfer if he wanted to. That said, his passion remains QBing an NFL team.

He's also not an NFL QB.

You're not understanding this fallacy; He already IS. But he's been blackballed.

How many young winning QBs in the history of the NFL have ever suddenly NOT found ANY team interested in them? With the number of crummy QBs out there??

Never say never as it concerns Tebow.

One of the greatest things I have ever witnessed in sports was watching so-called "expert" pundits from ESPN and elsewhere glumly eat their words EVERY week as Tim Tebow pulled off SIX last minute 4th quarter victories during his last year as an NFL quarterback.

Not even the great Peyton Manning has ever done that. If fact, I challenge any of you to find a QB in the last 50 years who HAS done what Tebow's had done. SIX 4th quarter comebacks in the final minutes is NO fluke. It's the will of a tremendous leader. AND QUARTERBACK.

I wonder how Tebows stats compare to a QB like Trent Dilfer. Who by the way was released from his team right after he had just won a Super Bowl. And the reason for his release "He isn't a very good NFL QB, we are going to get someone else"!! Well guess what they haven't won a SB with that "supposedly better QB". ROTFLMAO...

Then on the other hand you have "GREAT NFL QBs" who didn't win schitt. Lets see Dan Marino, Jim Kelly, Warren Moon, Dan Fouts, Sonny Jurgensen, Fran Tarkenton and a few others.

Moral of the story all you have to do is be able to drive the bus not push it all by yourself.

Dilfer -- though not statistically very good but mediocre -- did come up big and did not make mistakes when the moment was big in 2000. Even for just that single year.

Dilfer QB rating of 76.6. (2000, Super Bowl year)

Tebow QB rating: 72.9 (2011)

Dilfer has a QB rating of 83.7 during his Super Bowl playoff run. Went 7-1 during the reglar season, and 4-0 in the playoffs. AND THE RAVENS CUT HIM! For who? Elvis Grbac, who went 8-6, made it only thru the 1st round of playoffs.

Yeah, it took the Ravens a looong time to get back to the Big Show. Sometimes it's about...chemistry and leadership. NOT stats. Dilfer was a good fit.

Then on the other hand you have "GREAT NFL QBs" who didn't win schitt. Lets see Dan Marino, Jim Kelly, Warren Moon, Dan Fouts, Sonny Jurgensen, Fran Tarkenton and a few others.

Great moral. And yeah -- look at those names of great QBs who NEVER won a Super Bowl. And at that, even Peyton won only ONE Super Bowl.

I'd still like for somebody to help me understanding exactly how they can dismiss the accomplishments of Tebow's 6 4th Q comebacks, helping the Broncs win the division, and helping beat the Steelers in a playoff game. But claim Tebow is "not an NFL QB."

I only heard wonderful gushing from the leftos at ESPN and NFL.com when the dog beater and killer QB got out of jail and trying to make a come back.

If I remember correctly there was some weepy eyed come back vids the NFL promoted in his comeback. With the press given Tebow, you would think he shot a litter of puppies and used their skins to make footballs.

Leftist rubbish. Will be poured in the lake of fire with all the other filth of this world.

All valid observations as well as THE truth of the matters. And isn't especially galling to hear that fake meme that Tebow is "polarizing"?? Is he too humble? Too much into personal responsibility and sacrifice? Or is it his discipline in not being a man-whore?

Tebow's very existence threatens and reminds the im-moralists that good men...good white men (who run well), and good openly Christian men make for excellent leaders. They just can't have that narrative hemorrhaging in public. It might encourage too many young people emulate such a man.

I only heard wonderful gushing from the leftos at ESPN and NFL.com when the dog beater and killer QB got out of jail and trying to make a come back. If I remember correctly there was some weepy eyed come back vids the NFL promoted in his comeback.

You remembered correctly. Vick was admired and forgiven for his noble "rehab" and remorse by those sanctimonious jock-sniffing ESPN/ NFL.com hypocrites. Vick even mentioned "God" as part of the reason for his remorse. All well and good, but why was the mention of God in that context ok? And WHY was a creep like Vick someone to get all weepy eyed and excited over? Wouldn't have anything to do with a racial bias, would it? Is it ONLY former-villains whose humility, remorse and penance is acceptable?

With the press given Tebow, you would think he shot a litter of puppies and used their skins to make footballs. Leftist rubbish. Will be poured in the lake of fire with all the other filth of this world.

Beyond insane is the way we should regard this unjustified hatred and animus for Tim Tebow. They'd HATE him for petting puppies. That's how sick the Left is. He's a proxy target for Jesus Christ and ALL Christians. That hatred and resentment is based solely NOT on his performance, but on the fact that he's a popular, unabashed Christian athlete performing in a high-profile position, on a huge stage. How dare he!!?! In this perverse culture, we're only supposed admire and emulate the imperfect, the whores, the liars, and gluttons.

My theory is that Tebow and his sincere demeanor makes the hateful and habitually sinful feel....ashamed. They want nothing more than to see him fail, get hurt, and get tripped up by a single sin unnecessary. So then they can pull out the "HYPOCRITE!" card and feel better about themselves.

Now with Demaro Murray in the backfield and the high tempo offense, yes an athlete like Tebow is welcome on the Eagles.

Yup. Could be a great fit with Murray. AND strike absolute fear into a defensive coaching staff's game plan. Even IF they don't use Tebow, his offensive sets and plays will have to be prepared for.

All good and accurate.

(We'd never have even heard of either one except that one was the Virgin Quarterback)

I take it you don't watch much of SEC college football.

Must be the case.

Tebow notoriety is merit-based as a QB of Florida U's and two national championships on the Big Stage and a Heisman. And then of course leading the Denver Broncos to a Division Championship, an improbably six late comeback victories, and additional playoff victory over the Steelers.

Sam is co-winner of a flimsy conference Defensive Player of the Year in what was obviously an AA award. PERIOD. His homosexuality was an open secret.

The extent of sharing ANY compelling similarity of notoriety is purely a matter of the pro-homo agenda media's obsessive, endless promotion vs. their derision and ridicule of Tebow. Sam's notoriety is as result of his proclaimed "First Openly Queer College Player" to step out of the closet and flaunting his homosexuality and kiss on TV.

Jerry Jones I think combs the paroll officers and State Pens for his players. Why not get a good back up for Romo who does not have felony convictions?:)

ROFL!

So, according to you, a bunch of NFL teams would much rather lose than to have Tebow leading them to victory. Because they don't actually care about winning.

I think that if they thought he could win, he'd be their #1 QB. But they don't so he isn't. Instead, he's #4 QB on a so-so team.

And Tebow and Sams are still very similar in that their fanbois drive all the coverage of them.

Not really. However, there was much to be a 'fanbois' about Tebow's college career. He actually led a team to two national championships.

And he did lead a hapless Broncos to after going 1-4 to a Division championship and went one victory deep in the playoffs...not to mention against the mighty Steelers that year. Tebow in one year did what Tony Romo could not do in the playoffs in almost 8 years...Win a playoff game.

So, you are with Liberator in the "every NFL team would rather lose than have Tebow as their QB" camp?

So, if Tebow raped some chick or slapped his girlfriend around on camera or ran a dogfighting ring, the NFL would finally love him?

I don't think Tebow is that hated. I think his performance has not impressed the decision-makers. The same goes for Michael Sams.

Of course, it is easier and more palatable for fanbois to say "they hate Tebow" or "they hate Sam" than it is to admit they don't have top-rank talent in the eyes of the coaches and owners of NFL teams.

Most college ball players don't make it in the NFL. I don't see why Tebow (or Sam) are so different other than the religion or gaiety angle and their hordes of fanbois.

He spent a good deal of time taking instruction from Tom Brady's coach Tom House this year . Perhaps his throwing motion was corrected . House said :"He went from being a little inaccurate and didn’t throw a whole lot of spirals, to throwing very accurate and real good at spinning the ball"

Certainly, it is possible for Tebow to up his game during this down period. It would help to explain this modest comeback. The NFL doesn't have a lot of comeback stories.

Jerry likes controversy, glitz and glamour that's why they didn't start drafting decent players until his son got more involved.

Since they picked up Hardy the need for a DL isn't as great I think they will draft a corner in the 1st if a good one is available.

I think they are going to try to get Bryce Petty (Baylor QB) in the draft this year, he's ranked 91 and the boys draft at 91 (3rd round). On the other hand they might go after Petty in the 2nd round (just to ensure they get him) since there a bunch of RBs available in the 3rd (which they need also).

After that they will draft a PK/KR and a bunch of the best defenders available, in which order well I have no clue.

“Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rapidly promoted by mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.”
