Pestano More women in the United States have no children now than at any other time since the U.S. Census Bureau began keeping records in 1976. An average of nearly half, 47.6 percent, of women between the ages of 15 and 44 did not have children in 2014, up from 46.5 percent in 2012, according to the Census Bureau. The average of women without children between the ages of 15 to 44 in 1976 was 35.1 percent. The general fertility rate in the United States fell for its sixth straight year in 2013. It stands at 1.86, according to The New York Times. A fertility rate of 2.1 is required to have a stable U.S. population. To: rlk (#2) I believe that it is American society in general that suffers from the same disorder: Since easy and guilt-free sex became the norm, and abortion as a "reset" button, coupled with the outrageous cost of rearing children nowadays and a nanny state that just won't let us raise them how we want to, it should be a no-brainer on why young people do not have more children. On the other hand, family values were traded out for LBGT-xyz values on principles that do not include things like procreation or complete family units. Instead, these values attempt to supplant the nuclear family structure with a variety of more unusual and unstable structures upon which a child could become dependent on unbalanced models of living. After I quit - the Canadian said to the American owner: (before he quit) "You've got to stop stop running this place like a sweat shop." The place employed all of these Chinese people - and this Lebanese guy who said that I was an 'ingrate' for quitting. Hey - I've never been treated worse in any other place I've worked.
