United States News Title: THANKS, CUOMO, NOW WE HAVE EBOLA Ebola is now in New York. And the governor is to blame. Its a simple matter of policies have consequences. And stupidity comes at a cost. For the last several weeks, a debate has raged about whether or not to impose a brief travel ban on those west African nations known to have ebola. On the one side, the president has been alone among significant world leaders in saying that a travel ban would be ineffective. While most of the nations of the world have closed their borders to travelers from west Africa, Barack Obama has insisted that America remain wide open. His plan involves taking the temperature of west African travelers as they fly into the country. The White House says that those who are infected will have a fever and be detected. It is, of course, a foolish policy based on false science. Because anybody with Google knows that during the typical 21-day incubation for ebola, many people do not get a fever, or display any other symptoms, until the last few days of the incubation period. That means you get detected on day 18, but not on day 10 or 15. Even though on day 10 or 15 or 1 you are just as infected with ebola and just as much a ticking time bomb of infectious disease. It is an obvious and dangerous flaw. And it was pointed out almost a week ago by New York Lt. Gov. Robert Duffy. But his boss did nothing. In fact, over the recent weeks of the gubernatorial campaign, Republican candidate Rob Astorino has repeatedly called for a travel ban. Andrew Cuomo has argued for exactly the opposite. Which is risky in the state thats the most likely to have multiple ebola outbreaks. New York is the destination for 40 percent of all the west African flights into America that is a large plurality. That means the largest number of folks who have been in the infected countries coming to America will come to New York. That means New York is statistically most likely to be the seed bed of any incursion of ebola into the American population. It seems like that should worry the New York governor. It seems like it is something the New York governor should try to avoid. But not Andrew Cuomo. No, Andrew Cuomo has his lips so tightly pressed against Barack Obamas backside that he wont even disagree with him to protect the health and safety of the state he is sworn to protect. The president of the union representing New York City firefighters went public to say that our nations anti-ebola efforts were disorganized and ineffective, and that a temporary travel ban was essential. This is the man who represents the men and women of the FDNY the folks who ran into the Twin Towers. And those brave public servants know that allowing ebola to sink its roots in the fertile soil of our 315 million-soul population could have catastrophic results. But given the choice of backing up his firefighters or his president, Andrew Cuomo told the uniformed heroes to pound salt. And while almost every other major nation in the world adopted a policy restricting travel from the infected nations, Obamas America has been open arms and open borders. And so has Cuomos New York. Our only defense a thermometer. Which we all knew wouldnt work. And which has now been proven ineffective. A man whose bloodstream teamed with the ebola virus followed the Obama/Cuomo procedures to the letter and walked right through. Now we have to watch and wait to see if and how many others he infected in our homeland. Your governor is supposed to protect you. Andrew Cuomo didnt. For incomprehensible political reasons, maybe to curry votes or not upset core constituencies, Andrew Cuomo rubber stamped the foolish policies of the White House. And now ebola is in New York. Because Andrew Cuomo didnt dare challenge his president or the established politically correct order. He went along with his party and his president. Instead of standing up for us. Instead of saying that a thermometer wasnt good enough. Intstead of listening to his own lieutenant governor. Instead of protecting New York. Andrew Cuomo boasted that we were prepared for ebola. Thats good. But better would be not having ebola at all. And by refusing to call for a temporary travel ban, Andrew Cuomo has brought ebola to New York. The administration's latest Ebola recommendation - wear rubber gloves when you go bowling.
