They always play down to the opposition and Detroit is below them. Bannister somehow needs to change that mentality of the team or they will never reach their potential...

Like I said before it takes awhile for pitchers to get back to where they were before the TJ surgery, he hasn't yet he's still inconsistent. It my be next year before he's "All the way back" BTA he may never be all the way back. Same thing is going to apply to Darvish.
It takes pitchers years to get their grips and mechanics down to become successful, he's having to relearn that stuff to some degree cause his arm "feels different" than it used to...

It was a good year to be a Rangers fan UNTIL Feliz blew the save in game 6 and Cruz missed a routine fly ball after Josh got back the lead.
So saw Nefti Feliz pitch well in the 8th inning for Detroit. He lit up the radar to 97-98. Too bad he could not find that velocity with us. He would still be pitching for us.

I'm not but I just remember some of the articles I read that mentioned him.
Was on the 40 man roster, they had his potential as a #3 or 4 workhorse starter in the bigs (can you say Colby Lewis), throws in the low to mid 90s periodically topping out in upper 90s, most improved pitcher in the Rangers system (according to JD), has a good curve but changeup is still a work in progress, projected to be trying to nail down a spot on the Rangers roster come next Spring...
Colby is a free agent at the end of the year and is no spring chicken at 36, another year or 2 and he's gone... No more 200+ innings...

The person I wanted them to get from the Phillies was Ken Giles. He has a "heeter" in the high 90s/low 100s and sub 2 ERA. He would have solidified the pen for years and would have cost must less to acquire. But now that Papelbon has been traded you can forget it he's their closer now...

A dandy tonight. Gallardo better buy some Rolex watches for the defense. They kept his lead. Once again took him too many pitches but the Detroit lineup is very good.
Was 5-0 going to the bottom 9th. Tolleson came in with two outs and two on and Kinsler hit a 3 run HR. I question the call. Dyson got two easy outs. Then two batters hit squibbers in the infield for hits. I think Dyson would have got Kinsler to roll out or pop out. Well they won and Tolly struck out the batter before Miggy could bat. It's a win:) So far this series Miggy has come up with no runners on or leading off the inning.
Hamels tomorrow. Hope he can finally win one for the Rangers:) Miggy is 6 for 8 against him lifetime.
BTW. Rangers in sole possession of the second WC slot. Also back in second place.

He should have left Dyson in but given him some sage advice...

They are going to have to play .650-.700 ball down the stretch to have a legitimate shot at the playoffs.

I noticed they passed the Angels for the slot but that doesn't surprise me I've thought the Angels are done for a couple of weeks now. But things aren't over just yet a few other teams are stepping up to take their place like the Rays and the "Twinkies"...
Stros are just as hot as the Rangers so they have only cut one game off their lead. They did another number on the Dodgers last night, LOL...
Dodgers payroll - $307M
Astros payroll - $109M

About time they played above the level of the opposition and took the series, bta the Tigers are no slouches just can't seem to find the right chemistry...
Just noticed the Rangers just got rid of some more players, sent Choice to Cleveland and are giving Rosales his outright release. With the infusion of all those recently drafted players this was to be expected, gotta move some others up to make room for them...

Starters are working out of jams. Plus the Divine intervention of Miggy not coming up with runners on just about everytime all series was a key factor. The Martinez 'twins' can be struck out, and GDP. Miggy...not so much. I think he only whiffed twice in the series and the second time yesterday it was a questionable call by the 1B ump on a check swing. Miggy is an amazing machine at the plate. Now how long can these starters put up 6-7 innings with 2-3 of them 20 plus pitches to get out of jams? Answer is not long. So they need to start getting K's to shorten these innings or ground balls.
The BP is with the infusion of Dyson and Deikman is doing well. As long as they don't wear them out.

Surprised to see that so close to the September roster extension.

right now it's in the middle of the 8th and scoreless in the Bronx. Eovaldi is pitching a gem ........7 k Hoping the Yanks bats come alive . He deserves a win. CC went on the dl today which could be a blessing in disguise .
Nice walk off last night in the bottom 9th. I watched a bit of the bottom 9th on live look in on the At Bat App. I really question the Astros manager's call to IBB A-Rod. That put the winning run in scoring position for a veteran like McCann.

On the surface ,the pitching matchups favor the Jays .
Holland came back strong and he is pitching tonight. His third start since coming back from a shoulder injury. Hard to say but Holland has been more consistent the past few years (when healthy) than he was in 2010-2012. Then again the Jays have been beating up LHP all season.
Lewis on Wednesday so that should be a good game.
Gallardo RHP on Thursday...roll of the dice if he can make it to 6 full innings.
How about those Mets!:)

Banny and Beltre get tossed out of the game.
Update from the other night...
Here is an excerpt... My teammate over there, Prince, was the one who said something. I guess I was the ugly one, so he threw me out, said Beltre, ejected for the third time in his career. The thing is were always wrong, the players. The umpire is always right. We cant say a lot, because then we get in trouble.

If you take the records as a foretelling of what is to come then I wouldn't... A lot of those losses came when they were giving up 6-7 runs every night and couldn't pitch their way out of a paper bag. I think things are quite a bit different now their pitching seems to be better...

Amazing !!! of course . Mets and Yanks in 1st place going into September . Now there is a rarity .The Mets will be a tough out in the playoffs with their pitching staff and renewed offensive depth. But then again. They have a tougher road to hoe in the National League .
The Cubbies against the Pirates in a 1 game playoff will be worth the price of admission.
Hard luck loss last night. Tolly looked smoked. 2 BB is an easy way to blow a save. And an E for Beltre scoring the go ahead run. Sloppy 9th inning work against a good team.
Holland gave up what 4 HRs? Ouch that hurts.
If your offense scores 5 the pitching should be able to get the team to a win.
