Don't worry you didn't miss much except for a guy who can't hit his way out of a wet paper bag continues to tear up Ranger pitching. 1/2 of his total RBIs for the year have came against the Rangers...
Needless to say I think you can figure out what the rest of the story line is, Perez can get thru the order once and then all bets are off... Maybe it's time for me to start talking bad about Perez so Banny can hang my comments on "the outside" of his locker?? Oh wait never mind I just did...
Let me see which pig "DON'T" I want to vote for, the one with or without lipstick??" Hmmmmm...
Don't give up on Perez just yet. I saw an article he admitted eating "bad tacos" before the game. I'm sure Banister would have liked to know that. Sounds like the stupid stuff Holland used to do before he got that Angels fan dog of his:)
So blame it on the tacos this time.
Plus not thinking tacos are a good pre game meal 48hours out from pitching. Thinking tacos are a good meal for AFTER pitching a game.

I am reminded of the time the Nats shut down Strasburg in 2012 before the playoffs. They figured they would be in the hunt for years to come. Guess they were wrong.
They shut him down but he still needed TJ surgery later.

There is of course the possibility that Harvey and Boras are covering up an injury . Heard Harvey talk about it today . I thought he'd sound like Keshawn Johnson...give me the d--n ball !! . Instead he sounded wishy washy about the issue. He said he always considered 180 innings his limit. Come on ! Who does he think he's fooling ? He has complained about missing starts and getting taken out of games all season . In the height of a pennant race he and his agent do this stunt ? The Mets don't need this distraction and don't deserve it . They have supported him throughout his career knowing that Boras will cut the rug out from under them when he becomes a Free Agent.
I know what I would do . He immediately goes to the bullpen to be a one inning bridge to Clippard . Then if he has any innings left in the post season he can be on the roster until his 180 is up . The NATs did it to themselves . Harvey and his agent are calling the shots this time.
I saw an article he admitted eating "bad tacos" before the game.
I'm not giving up on him I'm just saying he needs to change things up somewhat after the first time thru the order. We both know he has the stuff to be a good pitcher but when you keep using the same sequence the batters pick up on it. Then they just sit back and wait till you throw the 3-2 fastball/curve/sinker you always throw.
Bad tacos can be a blessing, helps keep bugs and the pitching coach away from you while on the mound... And you'll have the end of the bench all to yourself so you can think about sequence of pitches!!! :)

He had TJ in Aug 2010 came back and pitched some in 2011 (24 innings) and then they shut him down in 2012 at 160 innings... I'm not sure why since it had been over 2 years since his surgery, would have to say they were being wery, wery, wery careful...
Let me see which pig "DON'T" I want to vote for, the one with or without lipstick??" Hmmmmm...
Holland had another good night only allowed 3 hits again, which they needed considering how well Weaver pitched. He has always pitched well against the Rangers has a 21-15 record against them, a lot of them were close games...
Lets see Stros lost, Angels lost, Yankees lost, Twinkies won and Jays won, everybody seems to be maintaining their places in the standings for the moment. Someone is going to have to get really hot or really cold for things to change much between now and the end of the month. National league seems pretty much settled as to who's in/out.
Let me see which pig "DON'T" I want to vote for, the one with or without lipstick??" Hmmmmm...
Lewis struggling. Gave up 4 in first two innings. Now trying to do the same in the 4th.
He really could use a turn skipped in the rotation, I know they don't want to but if they don't then it will only get worse. Using a youngster for one of his turns can't be any worse than what he's doing right now, averaging 5 innings and 5 runs. If he comes back refreshed and pitches better then it was worth it to suffer thru 1 bad start from a youngun. I would rather "for sure" lose 1 game than take the chance of losing 4-5 cause Colby's burned to a crisp...
See this is the reason I was against trading some of the young pitchers...Colby is getting up in age and will need to be replaced very soon, his contract is up at the end of the year if I'm not mistaken...

Bottom of the 3rd Jays and Sox tied 1-1...
Top of the 4th Os over Yankees 4-2...
3-0 Mets over Nationals bottom of the 4th, oh wait never mind Wilson Ramos just hits a Grand Slam to put the Nats up 4-3... Ooppsss a couple more base hits now it's 5-3... Some drama going on today...
Houston, Twinkies and Rangers all later...
Let me see which pig "DON'T" I want to vote for, the one with or without lipstick??" Hmmmmm...
Pineda was shaky early but has settled down. Red Sox are now leading the Jays 3-1 .Ortiz 2 doubles. As a Yank fan I have wondered for years why anyone would pitch to Ortiz .

Mark who ?
You still have to deal with "Mark who" for at least one more year, that's how much longer his contract runs. If A-Roid retires at the end of the season then move him to DH and let Bird play 1st...
We need Gary's Royals to come through and beat the Twins this week:)
Didn't happen Twinkies still right there...
Kela is out with sore elbow, looks like he will get some rest whether or not the Rangers can afford it. He has been used a lot this year he may end up being shut down, we'll see. But Faulkner filled in for him and did what the fireman is supposed to do, used only 20 pitches to get 5 outs.
Leave it to the Mets to have a controversy during a pennant run. Last time it was Pedro in 2006 if I am not mistaken
No ,Pedro was 2005 . According to Pedro ,Jeff Wilpon forced him to pitch even though he had a bad toe; and it ruined his shoulder .He struggled through 2006 with various issues ,and went on DL at the beginning of 2007 to repair his rotator cuff .
2007 the Mets had one of those epoch collapses ,losing 12 of their last 17 games and blowing a 7 game lead after Sept 12. Pedro sat out most of the season with his injury ,but came back in time to make the post season roster . He went 3-1.
But Faulkner filled in for him and did what the fireman is supposed to do, used only 20 pitches to get 5 outs.
That was beautiful to watch. He just gunned them down.
Dyson still getting the job done too. Wondered why Chirinos gave a sinker ball thrower a high target. That ball almost got out of the ball park. Note to Chirinos, talk with the guys who know Dyson.

It would be nice if Faulkner could become a regular piece of the bullpen. Noticed they recalled Scheppers, hope he has got his stuff back.
Banister is impressed with Faulkner. He put him in a pressure situation and Faulkner rose to the occasion. I like younger pitchers who don't think too much and just blow away a line up:)
You would think Banister learned keenly from Scheppers. Whatever he has going on, it won't get solved this season. If we ever get in a game again where we score a bunch of runs, Schep is the guy to eat up 2 innings at most...and be on a short leash.
So it seems the Rangers have no issues filling the bases but knocking them in...not so good:)
Could be an issue that Fielder is in a slump. His BA went down another 10 points in a week.
Veneble and Stubbs are no help at the bottom of the order. That Josh Hamilton threat in the 6 or 5 spot is probably gone for the season as he is relegated to pinch hitting (which did not see him bat much last series). Joey Gallo has fallen off the radar too.
"The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever."---Isaiah 40:8
We discussed this earlier and agreed Joey should have stayed in the minors till the season ended, then went on to the fall league.
Josh has been rode hard and put away wet too many times, I suspected this was going to happen when they traded for him and my fears were correct. First thing he needs to do is get the knee fixed, then the Rangers need to decide whether to keep him and DH him or play him at 1st, or trade him. I don't think you can put him in the outfield and expect him to stay healthy...
