The victim, Lama al-Ghamdi

Riyadh - A prominent Saudi Arabian preacher who raped his 5-year-old daughter before torturing her to death has been spared a death sentence or even a lengthy prison term after agreeing to pay "blood money" to the slain girl's mother.

Fayhan al-Ghamdi, a former drug addict who rose to national prominence as an Islamic television preacher, was arrested last November and charged with brutally raping and torturing 5-year-old Lama al-Ghamdi to death. According to a medical report, the little girl had been tortured with whips, electric shocks and an iron. She had broken arms, a broken back and a fractured skull. She died on October 22.

According to social worker Randa al-Kaleeb, Lama had been raped "everywhere." Hospital staff told the girl's mother that her "daughter's rectum had been torn open and the abuser had attempted to burn it closed," Agence France-Presse reports.

It wasn't the first time that al-Ghamdi abused his daughter. Last April, he was accused of torturing her so badly that her skull was fractured and she sustained brain damage.

Al-Ghamdi was jailed for a short period, but the judge ruled that the prosecution could only seek to compel him to pay "blood money" to Lama's mother. That, combined with time served, led to the killer's freedom.

In Saudi Arabia, a US ally, people are executed by public beheading for apostasy (renouncing Islam), blasphemy, witchcraft, sorcery, adultery, homosexuality and prostitution. But under the strict brand of Islamic law practiced in the kingdom, men cannot be executed for killing their wives or children.

"And we are allies with those animals!"

This animal deserves a bullet in the head for this disgusting crime, and those responsible for that rediculous legal system have my utter loathing and distain.

I would rather walk or ride a bicycle the rest of my life than use an ounce of gasoline from these people's oil.

Is that what you do, walk or ride a bicycle? And is that why?

I have several top quality bicycles, and I do much more walking or riding than riding my motorcycle or driving a car.

Which is something easy to do in bicycle friendly Eugene, Oregon.

I was a bicycle mechanic in a few bicycle shops until I broke my arms in 1998 when I lost range of movement and agility in them. I also used to race bicycles when I was younger too.

I have to respect that position on using ME oil.

What kind of mc do you have? I haven't owned one in years and miss it every day.

I have a 1994 Yamaha 750 Virago. I just sold my 1983 Yamaha 500 Virago, the first motorcycle I rebuilt.

I like rebuilding volkswagon aircooled engines, and those of motorcycles. I'm looking for a new project VW to do this spring. I am going to bring a dead beetle back to life and get it re-titled.

The hunt for it as always is half the fun.

The whole thing is fun, from the hunt for the car itself,to bringing it home and tearing it apart,to finding and refurbing the parts and putting it back on the road. I seem to start losing interest in them after that, though.

Still looking for a few parts for my 42 Dodge business coupe before I start tearing it apart and redoing it. I have others that are closer to being finished and drivable, but that's the one stuck on top of my lift until I can get it moving and stopping under it's own power.

I had a car dealer in Russia suggest the same thing.

Can't do it,though. Illegal to import or export anything from Cuba.

Given that we buy practically everything we use from China,it really doesn't make much sense to still be boycotting Cuber at this point, does it?

None at all, and as I stated in a previous post, it has the opposite effect. It legitimizes the regime there while failing to promote capitalism in Cuba. Open up trade with the Cuba, and within 5 years, Havana will be just like Miami Beach.

Boy that video goes back aways I noticed the Rubiks Cube in the background....

That reminds me of when I was in Pisa, Italy back in the early 80s. A bunch of us went to a restaurant in the town square right at the base of the Leaning Tower... There was this family there from Australia and when they heard us speaking English they said "Oi mates why don't you pull up a table and eat with us" (which we did)... The oldest boy had a 3X3 Rubik's Cube and would have someone mess up the colors and give it back to him... He would look at it to see the orientation of the colors then would put it under the table and solve it without looking at it again, all the while he was talking to one of us... I used to be able to solve it but not like that, I had to keep looking at it to make sure I was doing the right moves in the right order.... Nowadays I would be totally lost with that thing...

I never solved it. I used to know this one black kid in Texas that could do it in about a minute or less.

I could take it apart and solve it that way.
