Texas Gov. Rick Perry urged school districts to review their plans to ensure they are prepared to respond to incidents such as the horrific shooting at a Connecticut elementary school Friday. David Thweatt, superintendent of the tiny Harrold school district in northwest Texas, believes his staff is ready. Besides special locks and security cameras, an undisclosed number of staff members and teachers carry concealed handguns. Thweatt said the "guardian plan," which drew international attention when it was implemented in 2008, definitely enhances student safety. "Is that 100 percent? No," Thweatt said Friday in a telephone interview. "Nothing is 100 percent. But what we do know is that we've done all we can to protect our children." At the time the plan was put in place, Harrold, about 150 miles northwest of Fort Worth, was the only known public school district in Texas and the U.S. that allowed staff members and teachers to carry concealed weapons. Thweat said he knows of some other districts that have since adopted similar policies, but declined to name them. Harrold school officials do not announce which teachers are "packing" and those participating must have proper concealed carry licenses. They must also be approved by the school board to carry on school grounds. Board members approved the measure because the district is at least 20 minutes from the nearest station of the Wilbarger County Sheriff's Department. The district has one school, with about 110 students and 15 teachers, according to the Texas Education Agency. "We have one entry to the school," Thweatt said, adding that special locks can be activated from his office. "We also have the cameras, but we didn't have anything to deal with an active shooter." The guardian plan was researched for more than a year before the school board considered it. Some board members didn't like it. "My board at first didn't want to be the poster child for this," he said. But Thweatt said he wanted to minimize casualties that could quickly increase while waiting for deputies. He didn't want a plan where you "lock yourself in your closet and hope that an intruder won't hurt you. So what we came up with was a policy that would protect." Still, the strategy draws criticism from people who "don't believe guns, kids and schools mix," Thweatt said. There has not been an incident on his campus, and Thweatt doesn't expect one. He said his heart was heavy after learning of Friday's shooting in Connecticut, in which 20 elementary school students were killed by a 20-year-old gunman. "It's just tearing me up," he said. "...I have children of my own. I can't stand to think of my little guys just getting slaughtered like that. My heart just bleeds for these people."

I kept thinking this was ... Newton Massachusetts quite the liberal reputation --- not Connecticut ! If you ... don't use exclamation points --- you should't be typeing ! Commas - semicolons - question marks are for girlie boys !

And of course we had to say something. Cause Texas is never changing, no matter how much we have to take away from food/health/learning programs to pay for our defense. But a Marine official here raised questions about whether the children were “innocent.” Before calling for the M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System mission in mid-October, Marines observed the children digging a hole in a dirt road in Nawa district, the official said, and the Taliban may have recruited the children to carry out the mission. Shockingly, the article quotes a senior officer saying that the military isn’t just out to bomb “military age males,” anymore, but kids, too: “It kind of opens our aperture,” said Army Lt. Col. Marion “Ced” Carrington, whose unit, 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, was assisting the Afghan police. “In addition to looking for military-age males, it’s looking for children with potential hostile intent.”
If you allow people to have jobs and children to get Non-Leftard educations then you wouldn't have to spend all of that money on those useless programs!!

When I was in Cuba during Operation Sea Signal (the Cuban migrant event) in the early 90s they had about 25 camps set up to house all of the migrants... Along with a detention camp for adults (X-Ray) and one for juveniles (Baby X-Ray)... So having to deal with children with "possible hostile intent" is nothing new... X-Ray eventually morphed into what we have today known as Camp Delta, and I'm not sure if Baby X-Ray morphed into something else or not. I'm not sure if Delta sits on the same site as X-Ray or not because I haven't been back to Cuba since it was established!!

Care to re phrase this? No, I did not think so. If you allow people to have jobs and children, you wouldn't have to spend all of that money on those useless programs!! Try again. And thinking that I left out: 'to get Non-Leftard educations' makes your 'sentence' complete, means that you wre staring out the window when teacher was explaining Sentence Diagrams....;}

Accordingly, we need free contraceptives, readily available, and ready access to Planned Parenthood Clinics. And that we go running around the world killing everybody that doesn't agree with the policies of our country... 2). The 10 Commandments--- what are those??? And then they substitute a religion that promotes immorality and the killing of non-believers for the Commandments... 3). Pledge of Allegiance--- what's that!! 4). It teaches that the economic system that allowed their parents to earn a decent living that put a roof over the childs head, clothes on the childs back and food on the childs plate is unfair, unjust and immoral... Instead it portrays the system (Socialism) that is about the worst in the world as something to be admired... (Working hard and being an individual is a bad thing, being a parasite and voting for handouts is a good thing)... 5). The Constitution--- what's that!! 6). It teaches that being a real man or a real woman is a bad thing, being gay, a Metrosexual or a Feminazi is much better...
