How To Title: Hidden History of Militias Protecting Liberty in the 20th Century. Before they Were Called Oath Keepers Today the word Militia is a bad word to be looked upon with disdain and contempt in political circles in Washington. These are power mad people who seek the dominate every facet of our lives if we let them have their way. The militia is a part of our history throwing out tyranny from our midst, It has been a force for good. I will share with you why. We all know that all veterans, even those returning from the Iraq and Afghanistan are now a national security threat according to the Department of Homeland Security. This federal agency made publications they passed out to Law Enforcement all around the country. They did not make this classification by pulling a thought out of their rectal cavity. They made that statement from a historical standpoint on returning war veterans as one of the examples. This is why the US Government does not want veterans to be armed. In 1946, Group of WWII veterans took back control in the town in Athens Tennessee. The local Sheriff tried to rig the election when they seen they were being thrown out of office. The town has been tyrannized by local corruption while the men were off fighting a war. They did not like the changes they came home to and would not tolerate tyranny any longer. When the former GIs said enough after seeing what has happened when they were away. The WWII veterans by force of arms took back the town when all peaceful measures have failed. They were not afraid to use their guns and shoot if necessary. We cannot leave out returning Negro veterans who experienced war either. Many of the strongest leaders in the Civil Rights movement where World War II and Korean war veterans who served honorably. They returned home to find they do not get the respect they deserved. Many highly decorated black veterans, many of these heroes were lynched or beaten up when they returned home. They got very little fanfare. The Black people were still being abused and treated as second class citizens. People give too much credit to Martin Luther King for being the champion of civil rights for black Americans. We need not forget the success of the movement was these black veterans who fought on the battlefield, again, they were working in the trenches with great courage and valor during the civil rights era. They have seen the horrors of war, the Klan did not scare them too easily. They were battle hardened, they were able to endure the persecution and confrontations during this era. That combat experience was an asset making them very effective demonstrating leadership in the face of danger. They were honoring their oath they swore as servicemen beyond the battlefield fighting for liberty at home. The first visible sign of Blacks standing up and defending themselves against the abuse of the Klu Klux Klan was a Militia called The Deacons of Defense and Justice. This Militia was formed in Louisiana by Earnest Chilly Willy Thomas to protect the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) from Klan attacks. This group consist of all black World War II and Korean war Veterans standing in the gap against Klan violence. The Deacons provided security for the Freedom riders everywhere they marched and demonstrated. The Knights of the Klu Klux Klan was kept in check, they could not terrorize the civil rights demonstrations anymore. This Klan is also an arm of COINTELPRO to this very day. The KKK attacked many civil rights groups back in the 1960s with FBI plants in this racist organization. The Deacons for Defense and Justice did have the concern of the FBI back in the 1960s. They were very effective deterring Klan violence which has the FBI very concerned. I wonder why. There were many all black militia formations were all war veterans who were trained and disciplined. They provided security while many black activists were exercising their right to free speech protesting the lack of equality. They were not an offensive force, they were a defensive in their mission to keep the peace. In North Carolina when Blacks were fighting racial segregation. The Klan was fighting the racial integration of public Swimming Pools and other faculties. The Klan was attacking the Civil Rights groups pushing for racial integration. A Militia was formed as a response to these attacks called Black Armed Guard founded by Robert F Williams. This group was founded for the sole purpose to protect the civil rights activist from attacks and kidnappings. They educated black Americans in the use and safety of firearms in self defense. The Black Armed Guard was the first all black firearms groups to get an NRA charter. The establishment did not like Robert Williams. The FBI trumped up charges and accused him of allegations to attack his credibility. They issued a warrant for his arrest. He spent many years in exile because he was teaching blacks to defend themselves against White racist terrorism sponsored by the US government. The FBI COINTELPRO also formed fringe militant black groups to demonize the lawful Black Militia groups as a means to discredit them. They were using the word militant to give a negative impression as propaganda. The Federal Government was worried about these Black militia groups. Forming these radical fringe groups calling themselves militia calling for violence, they were able to neutralize the effectiveness of the grassroots security forces like Black Armed Guard and the Deacons for Defense and Justice. The grassroots black militia was just a security force, they never went out and retaliated against past violence. They just served as a security force to protect the movement from further Klan violence. It is sad the leadership in these Black Militias were ineffective challenging the FBI COINTELPRO groups with a radical agenda alien to the mission of the Deacon of Defense and Justice and Black Armed Guard. This is how FBI COINTELPRO sent a chilling effect into the all black militia movement. J. Edgar Hoover has seen these groups as a threat, so he neutralized them. The US Government could not challenge the legality of the Black Militia movement because they are constitutional and lawful. The second Amendment secured the right of self defense. The only way the US government can neutralize them is by discrediting them and demonizing them calling them militant lumping them with radical groups calling for violence. If they could not take them down overtly, they had to do it covertly through COINTELPRO through disinformation. The Government tried this tactic again with the Waco massacre, Ruby Ridge and the OKC bombing of the Murrah Federal Building trying to demonize the militia, gun ownership, the patriots fighting for states rights and conservative talk radio. This time, it was ineffective trying to send a chilling effect inside the patriot movement. They FBI has tried with people like Hal Turner who worked for the Feds, this man was calling for violence against the government. He was there as a poster child to demonize the patriot movement. That has failed. They tried to take down Hutaree militia with FBI informants making baseless accusations. The FBI tried to demonize Oathkeepers by arresting Sgt Dyer on child molestation and weapon charges. The Fed tried using the shooting of Congresswoman Gabriel Giffords to discredit the Tea Party movement. They have tried to pull a false flag with operation fast and furious with government agents shipping guns to Mexico drug cartels to spur more violence along the US. Mexican border. They wanted to blame the second amendment as the cause of violence along the southern border. All this demonetization has backfired on feds when they were exposed having their hand in it. Another Militia Black leader arose to speak before the US Senate Subcommittee on Terrorism in the 1990s. He sat alongside leaders of the Militia movement Mark Koernke and RBN head John Stadmiller. His name is J.J. Johnson , his testimony before the US Senate was very convincing making the case for the militia in the light of the rising Police State after Waco and Ruby Ridge. He formed a militia in Ohio is responding to the police state and rising crime among the gangs. J.J. Johnson saw the attack on personal liberties in the black community from the government. This had many in the government concerned because they could not label the militia movement as White Supremacist because the militia leadership stood shoulder to shoulder with J.J. Johnson a black militia commander. The truth is how do we counter tyranny? The Deacons of Defense and Justice does give us a guild post about what they have done to stop the abuse by the police and the Klan protecting life liberty and property by exercising the right to keep and bear arms. Think about it, if there was an armed citizen militia at the G20 conference in Pittsburgh that would be willing shoot back if the Police attacked the demonstrators without provocation. The police would back down trying to thug up on the peaceful protesters. When there is a show of strength, the Police will go into retreat and act as peace officers. The Militia consist the whole of the population. Every able bodied man with a firearm ready to respond is the militia. They have served as a counter force against a tyrannical thug seeking to intimidate and cower the population. The Klan in the south sought to instill fear into the black people. Here is an account from Joanne Grant who wrote the book Black Protest about how the Klan fled when confronted with armed men protecting the people: Will we resort to forming militia groups to protect ourselves deterring a tyrannical system? Will we have to form a militia for protection if we own a Health Food Store that sells raw milk or the farmers market? Will there be protection for the farms from Federal agents from a local armed militia? Will we need them for protection if we are to exercise our first amendment from police abuse? Will we need an armed deterrence just so our children can have a Lemonade Stand? Will we need a security force consisting of the people in our communities so our home gardens will not be attacked at night or kidnapped being black bagged by Homeland Security. Will we need our own security force to protect our homes from criminals since the police will not help us? Will we need a defense force just to protect ourselves when the government tries to come and seize our guns from us? A local militia might be the only solution left on the table to be a counter force against tyranny. What we face today is just like what the blacks faced in the civil rights era. The courts would not protect them. The police would not help them. The Klan had the blessing of the police to commit violence with impunity. They had no one to turn to in the system. They had to do it all on their own and that is what the blacks did. A few brave war veterans stepped forward and made a difference. When the civil rights struggle started, after abuse and repeated injuries by the police and the Klan in the deep south. A group of veterans got fed up with the abuse from the Klan and the police when they peacefully assembled for redress of grievances . They formed these groups of armed men mostly of war veterans to serve as a deterrence against groups who sought to intimidate and cower the black population. Where the Deacons of Defense and Justice was or Black Armed Guard showed their presence, there was no incident. They were the true peacemakers willing to use force if necessary to back it up. Keeping the peace by showing their strength. This had all the tyrants thinking twice before they pull the trigger. That is the beauty of the second amendment at work when it is used to protect the first amendment. Do you agree?
