Ok, give me a scriptural basis for these steps. Not something all cherry-picked to fit. Show me where these steps are laid out. Yet our commission is to 1) present the Gospel with the Love of Christ. . Sorry, I have no interest in further christian indoctrination. I spent 8 years in catholic schools and learn at an early age that it's all BS. The thing that frigged me out was the concept of "purgatory". What the fuck kind of god punishes newborns for not being baptized by their parents. I have no idea what the catholic or other christian religions teach now and I certainly don't have an interest in finding out. I live a great life not incumbered by the religious "hate" teachings like gays or evil and you're going to hell if you don't follow the rules of pompous humans trying to pretend to speak for god. You can start with the Great Commission as outlined in the Gospels by Jesus Christ. Then go to the Acts of the Apostles, then continue on through ALL of Paul's Epistles, then Peter's and then John's Epistles. After that James, Jude and Hebrews. Then the Revelation of Jesus Christ. You will then have completed the New Testament and will get a good picture of what I outlined. That is of course if you are truly serious and truly seeking.

Instead of throwing the baby out with the bath water I sunk my teeth in the Word of God. It is quite liberating to read the unfiltered Word of God and not rely on the traditions of men. You will find out by reading God's Words that nowhere is there mentioned a pergatory or punishments for newborns.

Red, there's no reason for us to have a debate because I'm a confirmed atheist and nothing will change that. BTW, I have read the bible. I will emphasize that although I'm an atheist I have my 8 year old enrolled in bible classes. Likewise I don't express my atheist views to him. I believe that religion is a personal thing and he needs to form his own opinion.
Good move. Hope they are very good Bible classes. If your 8 year old comes home soon and asks you about God, will you then share you are an atheist? LOL, punt it to mom:) IMHO you need to get involved in those discussions as well. If 8 is your oldest the interesting days are ahead. My oldest is now almost 13. Could not get him to go to the gym with me on weekends due to his chemo. However, when he heard a girl from school he likes goes there with her dad he is first to suit up for the gym:) So yeah from my foxhole it is important for dad to get involved in "those" discussions. If all they see are older men looking at NFL cheerleaders with their jaws open, then that is giving them an incomplete assessment. The mom part is important, but the soon to be young man needs to see and hear from dad more than birds and bees. They need to see the respect of another person, another soul cherished by God. At least that is how it goes in the Christian worldview.
