good posts, both of you. you make some very astute points. there's one point that i think you're missing here and, that is, that many of us are disappointed again in what we see as a lack of honesty here not that we expected Ron Paul to be our saviour. i think all of us on 4um are more realistic than that. this is a repeat of 2008 when Ron Paul pulled out just before the Texas primary. we were led to believe that he had a delegate strategy. now with this, he's pulled the rug out from under all those who worked to become delegates and who planned to cast a vote for him at the convention. he pulled up short again and i am certain that that it was not a sudden decision.

imo, he and Rand both owe his many, many supporters an immediate explanation.

and one more thing...how is it after all the criticism of Romney heretofore can the Pauls suddenly do a 180 and endorse him (assuming Ron plans to also)? that to me is an abandonment of his principles.

Romney isn't perfect or even close, but he has more in common with us then Obama ever will. He's white and kind of a Christian?

Obama is kinda white and kinda religious. He worships himself.

don't think that i don't realize what your intention was in starting this thread.

1. to bait without desire of temperate discussion.

2. an attempt to get posters to your forum.

3. to incite conflict between forums.

if it weren't for the fact that there are good comments by posters here, i would delete the thread.

Stone hates it because a smart woman who can dispassionately cut to the chase in an articulate way few forum owners can match rhetorically cleaned his clock.

She summed up Stone oh so well in this reality check he was asking for. I remember when I first read it; I laughed so hard I ached. He is an idiot.

Any of you in a swing state where it will matter at all?

I can vote for Captain Crunch and my "vote" still goes to the Republican because he'd lose Utah if he lost my state.

As for "sending a message" with a write-in vote, you should understand that those are never reported unless the guy you're writing in has filed paperwork. Many states forbid any recording or reporting of write-ins.

However, you shouldn't leave blanks on the ballot either. Dishonest election workers could fill in their preference over your blank vote as long as they leave a few blanks in there so that the election reporting doesn't reveal they are stealing votes from those who don't vote a particular office on the ballot.

Actually, no. Oregon has not been a swing state since 2004 during the Kerry/Bush race.

This time I am going to do grass roots work for Congressman Peter DeFazio who has a nut ball of an opponent to deal with. That is how I deal with a frustrating presidential race, I move to what level i can stay involved in the process and effect the good i want to.

After all, I am a political animal and need to exercise my political efficacy.

In 2004 the Republicans paid to try to get Nader into the race in Oregon by instigating an initiative petition to get him on the ballot.

I was working as a custodian in a building owned by Portland Saturday Market as part of my duties doing set-up, tear down, and other support functions for the market that runs on the weekend most of the year.

I found proof of fraud by watching their workers, and because I had access to their garbage which the SCOTUS ruled is public domain once it enters the trash flow.

I spoke as the whistle blower at the press conference at the SEIU Union HQ during the announcement of an investigation into this. And it resulted in Nader being kept off the ballot, and of course Kerry carried oregon in November.

So that is an instance in which I had a direct impact locally in a national race.

Well, neither you or I am any more perfect than the next human being, so that is a given.

But in that case, she handled Stone's gambit to do what he wanted to do with that vanity thread. That is my point.

And I want Stone to rebut this directly which is a purpose to my post. I certainly don't tweak his beak any worse then he has done himself.

He can rebut the post, too and I will listen to and respond to his feedback.

But he can't 'command' me to do anything as he explicitly tried to do in a recent vanity thread header. That merely amuses me,

I read Leon Iris as a boy and used to be enamored with Israel too. But in the activism I did in the 1980s against South African Apartheid I became aware of the Israel and SA connection which led me to do a closer look at what Zionism is, and why it resonated so well with what I hated about South Africa under the Nationalist Party Apartheid government.

I strongly oppose Zionism. But I refuse to engage in blanket bigotry of an entire religion because of that.

I just want it clear where I stand; it is against a bad philosophy and policy, not an entire people.

I don't hate Christians or Mormons in spite of the fact they are human beings with flaws and graces to them. And I respect their right to believe and worship as they chose.

So how can I draw an arbitrary line and have a different opinion on Judaism? I deal with others as feel appropriate to how I find them to be as individuals.

I don't like scapegoating people just assuming they are guilty of the crimes of others. Unless I get to know them and find out they are deserving of my distain and opposition in what they do if it is wrong, I don't give that to them.

Romney's NOT a Commie, Queer, uber-Fascist, Black Separatist, Muslim, America-hater, racist-Whitey hater, a Kenyan, Community Organizer, a narcissistic satanist, a dog-eater, Biggest Liar and Phony on the Planet, have a phantom past, or totally insane...LIKE 0buma.

MOREOVER, Romney has an actual birth cert, has actual business/payroll/employee experience, possesses less than 50 SS numbers, and can't be accused of having admitted the single solitary goal of totally FUBARing the USA as we know it.

This coerced selection is easy. The Kenyan make Romney look like a Boy Scout, George Washington, and Moses all rolled up in one.

Abraham screwed his wife (both were about 100 years old) and had a baby.

Do you believe that crap?

Abraham was quite shocked himself...

But again, whatever natural forces (God's own rules) that were altered and allowed man's life-span to be hundreds of years instead of today's 85 years old...were in effect. Evidently, even both Sarah and Abraham were shocked that a woman of 100 years old (still apparently "too old" even back in those days) could bear a child.

Why dismiss the Creator's power to change his own natural laws and planet for reasons ONLY he knows??

So what IS the "truth," Buck?

What do you want it to be?

What source of history and texts ARE to be believed? How do you know (for fact) that Sarah and Abraham are "liars"?

They were mere mortal human beings, correct? If not, then the myth is worthless as [then] they were superhumans, therefore. However, since they were humans, there is no way on this planet that Sarah could have conceived a child at 90+ years of age. The act of having the child would have killed her and the child.

And we know they were humans because the myth lays the foundations for the Jewish People and that THEY have the blood of Abraham and Sarah.

Planet Earth has changed, along with it's geography, biology, flora, fauna, magnetic fields, gravity, and life spans.

Yeah, and humans haven't changed a bit.

Did you know none of the Bible's prophecies and historical accounts of people, places, and events can be refuted? (except you're going to cite your sources that do, arencha??) THAT is one CT that somehow has somehow survived 5,000 years - along with several civilizations' account of The Flood.

So, let's start with the Garden of Eden. Eve came from a rib of Adam, correct?

ALL people are by nature, "liars". Succumbing to corruption are especially those among those who've wielded power. But by the same token, some good men have endured, and along with it, some truth has been preserved for posterity.

That is a FACT. Man is a deceitful creature and to believe in men that profess some sort of religion is like buying a lemon from a used car salesman and hoping that this one will work but it never does.

In the context of human history and "civilization", whom do you consider "honest" people?

Excellent question. I shall be very simple and to the point. "Honest" people understand a sense of "shame." Strange, that there are so few of them walking the planet, isn't it?

Yeah, and humans haven't changed a bit.

Physically, yes; Age-wise, yes. His soul? NO. Since Adam man has fought his selfish, narcissistic, sinful nature.

What do you want it [the truth] to be?

NOT "relative".

Your problem (and you're hardly alone in this respect) is that since you presume man is a "Liar," ALL of man's works are a "Lie". That corollary isn't necessarily iron-clad, is it? SOME men as you readily admit recognize "shame," and thus "honor" - wouldn't you agree?

Btw, IF you'd like to provide THE sources of man's historical accounts I'll be happy to review and critique them. For now (and forever), the sole irrefutable source of actual historical accounts of people, places, and events over the course of thousand of years remains....The Bible.

How do you know that the Creator changed anything? That you believe in a myth? How profound is that?

The story of Abraham and Sarah defy: common sense, scientific fact and any collaboration of any source other than the Jewish fables called the Torah; the Torah was written about 500BC (after the Jewish EXILE to Babylon) based on hearsay from generations of goat herders that just made the stuff up.

The Jews learned educational concepts that were applicable to themselves from the Babylons, too. Hence, the written word for protestants called the Old Testament.

Your problem (and you're hardly alone in this respect) is that since you presume man is a "Liar," ALL of man's works are a "Lie".

This is not true. I am discussing how men/women enjoy deception without the concept of shame. Without a sense of shame, there is little "wrong" or "right" or "good" and "evil." For men to control themselves, requires a sense of "shame."

In America, there is no such sense (certainly for leaders in religion, education, government, business and so on); "shame" is eliminated from a modern leader's perspective in order to accomplish a goal: to by the BIG_GUY. That same philosophy trickles down to the underlings and so on and so on.

This is the change YOU are talking about with respect to time or historical records. In the past, the lack of "shame" was almost non-existent (unless you were a ruler or some authoritarian figurehead) because survival about yourself and family was well-established in the social unit, as well. In fact, to violate the social order could lead to death for not just yourself but the family, as well.

That corollary isn't necessarily iron-clad, is it? SOME men as you readily admit recognize "shame," and thus "honor" - wouldn't you agree?

Most fine people that rise to GREATNESS have a sense of "shame" this is not "guilt" as "guilt" is an emotional reaction about a sense of shame. Hence, an honorable man has little guilt.

I mean besides that.

some text

"If men through fear, fraud or mistake, should in terms renounce and give up any essential natural right, the eternal law of reason and the great end of society, would absolutely vacate such renunciation; the right to freedom being the gift of God Almighty, it is not in the power of Man to alienate this gift, and voluntarily become a slave." Samuel Adams, Rights of the Colonists, 1772

Btw, IF you'd like to provide THE sources of man's historical accounts I'll be happy to review and critique them. For now (and forever), the sole irrefutable source of actual historical accounts of people, places, and events over the course of thousand of years remains....The Bible.

You are very kind for the offer. But, unfortunately I do not follow a religion at all; the closest you could say I am ... is a deist as the world around us can not be explained by myth as found in either pseudo-science or religion. It can't be found in real science, either.

Our respective beings and the universe around us can not be understood with the tools that we have or have had. The truth is, the more we learn about ourselves and the universe around us, the less we know; it is dichotomous enigma that can never be solved. For those going to church on Sunday to learn about the "good word" it is nothing more than a practice of self-illusion.
