A U.S. soldier held by the Taliban since 2009 has been recaptured after he went on the run for three days. Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl's daring escape failed when a manhunt was launched in Pakistan to find him, Taliban commanders said. He is now facing his third Christmas in captivity. Sgt Bergdahl has been a prisoner of the Taliban since his capture on June 30, 2009, in Afghanistan. Since then, he has appeared in a least five Taliban propoganda videos, one of which was released in May. He is the only known U.S. soldier to be captive of the Taliban. Now he is back in captivity, Sgt Bergdahl is once more restrained at night and being moved frequently to avoid detection by U.S. forces. Drone strikes have killed several senior militants in the area he is being held and sources say the Taliban is ready to make a deal to release the soldier. A source told The Daily Beast: 'There's a fear that a dronecould hit the golden [goose].' Colonel Tim Marsano, an Idaho National Guard spokesman based in Boise, was quoted in the report and has spoken with Sgt Bergdahl's family. I'm not worried about Jane. And they did not tell her anything but show him a picture and asked her to identify him which she then complied with. She should of known better then to share information about prisoners, thus ignorance is no excuse when one does something stupid like that, so she deserves flack for doing that. She is indeed very lucky then Captain Rowe was able to kill his guard and escape though. Count on that.
I also will say one more time to reinforce one point, Five years to Freedom is a must read. It is one of a few books I have re-read and has a place of honor in my collection of books.

In general,you are correct. When speaking to the west specifically,you are incorrect. What the ruling elites in the west are enjoying is fascism,which is communism's more mature brother and is maybe 10% less evil than communism because it is slightly less oppressive because it does allow a middle class. True,that middle class is totally dependent on the approval of the government,but it IS there. Still,the middle class and their less unfortunate brethren the laborers (or "civilans" as cops call them) don't enjoy that form of government as much as they suffer under it. Can't read books anymore. Have you given any thought to buying a Kindle from Amazon.com or a similar book reader? You can download books on them and then increase the font size to a level you can see. The Safari (by Apple) web browser may work for you,too. It has a feature called a "reading list" that allows you to save web pages to it and then read them without all the ads or other clutter that may interfere with large fonts. It also has a feature that allows you to show your favorite/most visited sites as icons when you go to bookmarks. Icons with LARGE letters showing the page name. Safari is also a lot quicker than IE and Firefox. Be aware there is a learning curve to learn how to bookmark web pages,though. WOW! Speaking of quick,my new desktop really smokes! I click on a link and it's open before I can get my finger off the send button. Blink of a eye quick. Dual core Intel 3.4 GB processor with 16 GB of RAM. Now,if I can figure out a way to play old DOS games using WIN7,I'm in business!

Superb suggestion, because as a read-aholic, I would feel like an important part of me was amputated were i unable to read books. And i feel one of the necessary and fundamental parts of making our Republic work is having people beng as well informed and educated as humanly possible. It is the best inoculation against totalitarian demagoguery there is. I am deeply troubled by the ignorance and selfishness I see all around me, and i really worry about our future as a species, a world and the future of our republic and it's constitution form of government with the checks and balances of power that need to be respected and cultivated to make it work. De Oppresso liber. Ignorance, greed and hate is the worst sort of oppression there is, and I will always fight it.

In fact i have purposely taken a class in Bible study as well as one on the Koran and make the effort to learn about and understand other religions as well. I feel some religions focus too much on the management and control of culture and people. You may not like this and you obviously feel threatened by any religion that does not advance your own religious agenda, but that is your problem, not mine. Dell is having a hell of a sale. I think I got 922 bucks off on mine,but mine was maxed out with every upgrade they offer. The XPS 8300 Dell desktops can be bought now for around 650 bucks,and this includes a LCD monitor and Win 7 64 bit software already installed.

Yeah,that's a trip I will be making in the near future,myself. I can get the cataract surgery done "for free" at the VA hospital once I have lost 75 percent of the vision in both of my eyes,but the last time I went to the VA hospital for minor outpatient surgery I damn near lost my left leg because the quack botched the operation and my leg got infected. It got swollen to the point it turned black and purple,and burst. I am no medical authority,but even I know that black and purple are bad colors for a leg. The VA's solution to the problem was to give me a double daily dose of fluid pills and the cheapest antibiotics they could find. This went on for a couple of months without getting better,so they suggested I let them amputate my left leg and they would fit me with one of the hi-tech plastic and steel legs that are made now. I told them to kiss my ass because I was off to get a second opinion. I went to a local doc that told me they could almost fix the problem by using varicose vein replacement surgery to replace the ones the VA docs killed by sewing me up without sewing the ones back together they had cut apart. They said "almost" because my leg had already suffered damage at the cellular level because of the long delay in fixing the circulation problems. But first they would have to kill the infection before they could do the operation. I had to go back and forth to their offices twice a week to get the bandages and the special silver-impregnated pads replaced before the infection cleared up,and had to do this for a couple of months. Once the infection was gone the actual surgery took about 45 minutes right there in his office. By the time it was all over it cost me around 6 grand,but I saved my leg. If the VA hospital had done this to start with or even told me there was such a thing,my leg would have made a complete recovery. They didn't do this because the VA hospital doesn't offer varicose vein replacement surgery. This wasn't the first bad experience,either. The year before I damn near died because they cancelled my gall bladder surgery 3 times,and while I was waiting for the 4th surgery appointment it burst inside me while at home. Since the local hospital is only about 30 miles away and the VA hospital is about 65 miles away,I went to the local ER for treatment. Where else do you go at 2 AM when yuo are that sick? The VA refused to pay for the surgery,using the excuse of "you should have had this surgery done at the VA hospital." And this was AFTER I was the one who told them I had a infected gall bladder and proved it by bringing them my ultrasounds that I had done by a private doc,and they had scheduled and then cancelled the surgery 3 times! What freaking part of "emergency surgery" is it they don't understand? The bill came to something like $48,000. Medicare paid 80 percent of it,but I had to cough up the other 20 percent. To make a long story even longer,because of this experience I do NOT believe I am going to trust them to operate on my eyes. ANYBODY who truly believes that socialized medicine is the answer to medical care needs to get ALL their medical needs taken care of my a VA hospital for 2 years. That will cure them of this delusion forever. BTW,my left leg is once again swollen up so big it has burst and is leaking clear fluids. Every time it leaks a little I get a sharp,burning pain. When this happens I am unable to do much of anything because I am supposed to sit and keep the leg elevated while taking fluid pills,and to do NOTHING that could cause it to get infected again through exposure to dirt or sweat. The surgeon said I was most likely going to end up losing it anyhow because I am getting older,but that if I did my best to keep it clean and elevated I could put amputation off for several more years. All this because the VA hospital doesn't have any money in their budget to perform varicose vein replacement surgery,and their docs aren't supposed to tell patients about procedures they don't provide.

What is it that makes you so certain that Samsung doesn't make at least some of the monitors sold under the Dell name? Do you REALLY think that Dell makes their own monitors? BTW,my 1 year old 58 inch Samsung plasma tv has a picture so good it's almost scary. I bought it during the Christmas sales last year,and got it at a major discount off full retail. BTW-2,Jim,you need to get a Roku 2 XS media player. People our age that have vision problems also have hearing problems,and you can use this thing to download free and rented movies and tv shows to your computer,and then watch them on your big screen tv. Besides giving you a MUCH larger picture to look at that the typical computer monitor screen ,this model also offers closed caption in addition to the usual pause,rewind,fast forward options. Read the reviews and you can see this is the wave of the future because lots of people are dropping their cable and sat tv programming because it's cheaper and easier to just download them. Yes,I do own one myself. In fact,I own two of them. One for my workshop.
