(Reuters) - Former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi died of wounds suffered in his capture near his hometown of Sirte on Thursday, a senior NTC military official said. National Transitional Council official Abdel Majid Mlegta told Reuters earlier that Gaddafi was captured and wounded in both legs at dawn on Thursday as he tried to flee in a convoy which NATO warplanes attacked. "He was also hit in his head," the official said. "There was a lot of firing against his group and he died." There was no independent confirmation of his remarks.

A lot of that going around. I did read where the Information Minister Mahmoud Shammam said he has confirmed that Gaddafi was dead from fighters who said they saw the body. He said he expects the prime minister to confirm the death soon, noting that past reports emerged "before making 100 percent confirmation." So, it's just another 'wait and see' story....

Russian media is reporting his death so I do believe he is indeed dead. MOSCOW, October 20 (RIA Novosti) Libyans celebrated the death of Muammar Gaddafi with peals of gunfire on Thursday as news broke of the dictator's death during an attack on his hometown of Sirte. Gaddafi died of his injuries near Sirte, the National Transitional Council said. The ousted dictator was reportedly captured, wounded in both legs and taken away in an ambulance. “We announce to the world that Gaddafi has died at the hands of the revolution,” Abdel Hafez Ghoga, a spokesman for the National Transitional Council, was quoted by Al Arabiya as saying. “It is a historic moment. It is the end of tyranny and dictatorship. Gaddafi has met his fate.” Al Arabiya reported that the body of the deposed Libyan leader had arrived in Misrata and said it would be allowed to film the corpse. The Aljazeera satellite TV channel quoted a doctor who examined his body in Misrata as saying Gaddafi had died of bullet wounds to the head and abdomen. News agencies showed photos of a dead Gaddafi made with a cell phone. Aljazeera TV showed the first photos of a dead Gaddafi made with a cell phone. In one photo, Gaddafi, his face covered in blood, is being dragged to a vehicle. According to some reports, Gaddafi was also hit in his head during an NTC raid on Sirte. Earlier reports said Gaddafi was captured and "critically injured." However, Al Libya, a TV channel loyal to Gaddafi, has denied the reports. Gaddafi's son Motassim was also reported killed in Sirte. There are several Resistance sites with posters I have followed for some weeks who are at least voicing some real concerns about the arena crowd which watched this conflict and did nothing.....to very little.
I noted this as well on some Serb blogs.....pointing out that Russia fooked around,testing some of their technology on NATO aircraft,...and went out the back door after promises made to help.
It seems like Daffy experienced the same,....both Russia and China dumped him on the curb.
No wonder Hitlery partied.....its just a matter of time when the person you fight with their hands tied behind their back goes down for the count.

NATO has surrendered. On October 20, the mainstream media were reporting that NATO on October 21 will meet and announce that, now that Gaddafi has been "killed" (or so they claim), NATO will leave Libya within "a couple of days." You can easily find articles by Googling, "NATO to end war on Friday, October 21."
Here is what I believe has happened. The political leaders, who do control NATO totally, have had it. They instructed NATO to do something-- anything that could give them a "good" excuse to end this war, save their money, and so-call proclaim a victory.
Dennis South could do more harm here with the NATO quit propaganda spin.
The reason I'm saying this,...as as mentioned in my other post
