Thursday, the White House reported that the numbers being reported for the cost of President Obamas upcoming trip to India are wildly inflated; many reports have shown that the trip will cost as much as $200 million per day. The $200 million cost was originally reported by a single Indian media outlet and quickly went viral and was even reported on conservative talk radio, but the White House insists that it is incorrect. They also said that the bulk of the cost of the trip is for security.
"The numbers reported in this article have no basis in reality," said White House spokesman Tommy Vietor. "Due to security concerns, we are unable to outline details associated with security procedures and costs, but it's safe to say these numbers are wildly inflated."
Obama's India trip will start in South Korea, Indonesia, and Japan.
