Keywords: Illegal Alien Invader, ICE ignores it, Whitman Fired Her

Meg Whitman's former housekeeper was an undocumented worker and claims working for the Republican candidate for Governor was a "nightmare."

0929_gloria_housekeeper_BN_TMZ_03

Nicky Diaz Santillan, Whitman's housekeeper of 9 years, held a news conference with her lawyer, Gloria Allred, and claims Whitman had all the clues she was an undocumented worker but closed her eyes to it because she was cheap help ... $23 an hour.

Allred claims the housekeeper was "exploited, disrespected, humiliated and emotionally and financially abused" by Whitman.

Allred claims when the housekeeper was hired 9 years ago through an agency, Whitman never asked if she was in the U.S. legally.  And, during her employment, Santillan told Whitman she couldn't travel to Mexico.  And, Allred said, Whitman found out Santillan's Social Security number didn't match her name, but Whitman did nothing.  Allred said it's the classic case of "don't ask, don't tell."

0929_whitman_debate_videoThat all changed, Allred says, when Whitman launched her campaign for Governor, realizing having an illegal alien on board was a liability ... and fired her.

Santillan says Whitman treated her "like a piece of garbage" by letting her go.

Allred says Santillan is filing a claim with the Labor Commission for back wages and mileage.

Yesterday, Whitman said in the debate with Jerry Brown that employers should be held accountable for hiring undocumented workers.

GOP's Meg Whitman says she once employed illegal alien

SACRAMENTO — California Republican gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman employed an illegal immigrant for nine years, then fired her when the employee said in 2009 that she was in the country illegally, Whitman's campaign said Wednesday.

The announcement was made in a media call ahead of a press conference at which the employee is expected to claim she was mistreated by Whitman. The Whitman campaign has characterized the claim as political.

Whitman lawyer Tom Hiltachk said the employee was hired in 2000 and provided standard forms showing she was a lawful permanent resident. He said that in June 2009 the employee confessed she was not a legal resident and used false documents to gain employment.

Hiltachk said the employee was subsequently fired.

Stutzman said the employee was "close to the family" and that the situation saddened Whitman.

There goes the Mexican vote, assuming she ever had any of it. Other than that, no big deal.

You've got to realize that since she worked through an agency, the illegal would be lucky to get $10.00 per hour of that.

that's interesting, if she was paid by the agency not whitman then she was the agency's employee.

I've done work for a number of companies like Robert Half and they were the employer not the company where i worked at.

After re-reading this story, it's possible that the agency found the housekeeper for Whitman, took a fee, and then was out of the picture.

The way this is written it's hard to tell.

Nonetheless, I still don't see any big deal about firing a housekeeper. It happens all the time.

The war within the GOP is changing how things are done, Fred. The fact is there wasn't a dimes worth of difference between 2001 and late last year.

Today, thats changing. And the Tea Party is making it happen.

This is nothing more than a Democrat Party hit.

Whitman hired the housekeeper from a valid employment agency. During the entire time she was employed, Whitman paid payroll taxes to the government (unlike several Democrat politicians).

When Whitman found out that she was illegal, she terminated her, as U.S. LAW REQUIRES.

What did she know and when did she know it?

First she said no letter from SS was never received and then a letter from SS with a note in her husband's handwriting was produced.

Apparently her husband denied knowing about her status, then when confronted with a letter about her, in his own handwriting, suddenly remembered.

No, he said he doesn't remember seeing it, but it is possible.

The letter didn't say anything about immigration status.

Regardless, it doesn't mean Meg knew anything about this. Remember, she was working 18 hours a day building eBay. It seems to me that the husband was probably in charge of the house.

Her husband is/was a doctor at Stanford - the illegal alien was probably running the house.

Plus, they were all so busy helping Palin find the "path to citizenship" that they didn't have any time to find a US embassy, or even an immigration lawyer.
