What Was Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. THINKING? Post Date: 2011-03-07 21:08:05 by A K A Stone

Good grief, what was USA House of Representative Jesse Jackson Jr., (D/IL) THINKING when he came up with this silly idea about fixing unemployment by changing the USA Constitution to allow every kid to get an iPod and a laptop. This is beyond being laughable, it is just downright STUPID. It is nonsense like this why the Democrats in the USA House got their clocks cleaned out this past November. The USA Constitution is not a document that can be changed on a whim. Cannot Rep. Jackson Jr. GET THAT? With MANY THANKS to both NakedEmperorNews1 and YouTube. Watch Video Here
NUGENT: Multicultural rot in the melting pot Post Date: 2011-03-07 21:01:22 by A K A Stone

Europeans are finally awakening from their self-imposed Rumpelstiltskin deep slumber to discover that multiculturalism is actually cultural rot and is ripping their countries apart. From the United Kingdom to France to Spain to Germany, leaders or former leaders have decried multiculturalism as a poisonous experiment for their nations. Whats next - is Europe going to rediscover that the Earth is not flat? You have to wonder how these leaders ever could have signed on to encouraging Muslims to lead separate lives and not to assimilate in the first place. Pardon me, but even a venison-fueled guitar slayer knows that playing politically correct games always leads to death, destruction ...
Mike Huckabee, Newt Gingrich and the spotlight-chasing candidates of 2012 Post Date: 2011-03-06 11:25:42 by go65

If pessimism is not creeping on little cat's feet into Republicans' thinking about their 2012 presidential prospects, that is another reason for pessimism. This is because it indicates they do not understand that sensible Americans, who pay scant attention to presidential politics at this point in the electoral cycle, must nevertheless be detecting vibrations of weirdness emanating from people associated with the party. The most recent vibrator is Mike Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas who won the 2008 Republican caucuses in Iowa and reached that year's national convention with more delegates than Mitt Romney, and who might run again. Huckabee, now a Fox News host, was ...
Fox News' Mike Huckabee: Won't someone cast him in a remake of 'Face in the Crowd?' Post Date: 2011-03-04 22:44:23 by Skip Intro

If you've never seen Elia Kazan's riveting 1957 film, "A Face in the Crowd," you should make time soon. It's more timely than ever. The film, written by Budd Schulberg, is about Larry (Lonesome) Rhodes, a hobo turned country singer whose folksy humor and personal charm helps catapult him to TV stardom and national political influence. The movie is a cautionary tale about how, in America, cynics use idealism to promote their own personal agenda, which should already look pretty familiar to anyone who spends any time watching Fox News. If any current political figure bears a striking resemblance to "Face in the Crowd's" Rhodes, it's Mike Huckabee, the ...
Thomas Friedman and the Great Man Theory of History Post Date: 2011-03-03 21:43:01 by jwpegler

Thomas Friedman recently wrote an article stating that Obama's racial make-up and religious ancestry are the root causes of the turmoil in the Middle east today. According to Friedman, people have decided to fight their governments because Obama is black and his father was Muslim. Here is what Friedman actually wrote: Americans have never fully appreciated what a radical thing we did in the eyes of the rest of the world in electing an African-American with the middle name Hussein as president. Im convinced that listening to Obamas 2009 Cairo speech not the words, but the man were more than a few young Arabs who were saying to themselves: ...
Rolling Stone Gets Alex Jones Wrong Post Date: 2011-03-03 18:07:58 by A K A Stone

Rolling Stone has a new piece on radio host/patriot Alex Jones, casting him as a paranoid, fringe conspiracy theorist who attracts lunatics in Hollywood and across the land. It is not a total hit job, though. Alex gets to speak his mind, and the writer lays out the history of Alexs rise into the mainstream pretty well, but like other media portrayals of Alex, the buzzwords conspiracy theory and paranoid are used, almost automatically, to describe Alexs special brand of populist-constitutionalist political speech. Salons Alex Pareene called Alex an all-American nut-job, on March 1st, saying that he is about as fringe a character as ...

FREE SPEECH vs. HATE SPEECH, HARRASSMENT, TRESPASSING, DISTURBING THE PEACE. Rev. Phelps and his clan can say anything they want to within distance to cause a disturbance at funerals of fallen soldiers it becomes harassment and there is a law against harassment, disturbing the peace and hate speech. They should get a restraining order against this clan restraining them from protesting within 100 yards and disturbing the peace of a funeral. A funeral is a private ceremony and attended only by invitation and Rev. Phelps and his clan are funeral crashers spewing hate speech. He can do and say whatever the hell he want within a certain distance but the line is drawn when it becomes hate ...

Since 1973, Americans have been watching an accident in slow motion. That was the year that the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), began to understand the economic leverage they had over Western, oil-dependent nations. At that point America, whose last year of energy self-sufficiency was 1950, was importing 35% of its energy. Over the next two years, in retaliation for the unsuccessful attempt by several Arab nations to annihilate Israel in the Yom Kippur War, OPEC more than tripled the price of a barrel of oil. A severe recession occurred, and people were forced to wait in long lines on alternate days to buy gasoline. In terms of energy independence or stability, ...
How the Rich Soaked the Rest of Us Post Date: 2011-03-02 17:24:06 by Brian S

How the rich soaked the rest of us: The astonishing story of the last few decades is a massive redistribution of wealth, as the rich have shifted the tax burden. Over the last half-century, the richest Americans have shifted the burden of the federal individual income tax off themselves and onto everybody else. The three convenient and accurate Wikipedia graphs below show the details. The first graph compares the official tax rates paid by the top and bottom income earners. Note especially that from the end of the Second World War into the early 1960s, the highest income earners paid a tax rate over 90 percent for many years. Today, the top earners pay a rate of only 35 percent. Note, also, ...

By focusing attention on Israel and its crimes, Europeans, American admirers ignore Islamic war against Israel, global jihad. It was a stunning moment of moral clarity. As the South Vietnamese refugees clambered onto rickety boats in the South China Sea to escape the victorious Communists, the American Left that orchestrated the US defeat through a sustained campaign of propaganda and fake calls for peace stood silent. As Pol Pot, the progressive dictator tortured and murdered a third of his people in Cambodia, the leftists peace activists in the US and Europe who never saw a US military operation that was justified, turned a blind eye. The silence of the likes ...
The Vatican Vs The ‘Zionist Tsunami’ Post Date: 2011-02-28 17:25:38 by Brian S

The slandering of Israel is growing at an alarming rate among the most important Catholic journalists. The January edition of La Civiltà Cattolica the most authoritative magazine of the Jesuits, printed under the supervision of the Vatican opens with an editorial about Palestinian refugees. Adopting the Arab propagandist word Nakba, it declares they are a consequence of ethnic cleansing by Israel. The journal also supports anti-Israeli historian Ilan Pappe, and falsely proclaims that the Zionists were cleverly able to exploit the Western sense of guilt for the Shoah to lay the foundations of their own state. The Latin patriarch of Jerusalem, ...
Buchanan: Manufacturing's Dismal Decade Post Date: 2011-02-28 13:59:37 by Brian S

Last year, Barack Obama committed his administration to doubling U.S. exports in half a decade. The good news: He is on the way. U.S. exports of goods and services grew in 2010 by 16.6 percent. Bad news: U.S. imports, starting from a higher base, surged by 19.7 percent. Result: The U.S. trade deficit in 2010 worsened by 33 percent, rising from $375 billion to $498 billion, the largest percentage increase in a decade. If Obama keeps this up, he may prove as big a disaster for U.S. manufacturing as his predecessor, although these are big shoes to fill. As he has each February for years, Charles W. McMillion of MBG Information Services has compiled the stats on the industrial decline of ...
Day Of Reckoning On Pensions; Post Date: 2011-02-26 16:35:08 by Brian S

The housing bubble and subsequent Wall Street collapse wreaked havoc on the nation's retirement savings, as many pension funds and 401(k) plans suffered losses of 30% or more. State and local governments are now facing huge unfunded pension liabilities, prompting policymakers to scramble for ways to close the gap without slashing payrolls and services. But a new report from the Little Hoover Commission in Sacramento makes a more troubling point: Many state and local government employees have been promised pensions that the public couldn't have afforded even had there been no crash. The commission's analysis of the problem is hotly disputed by union leaders, who contend that the ...
Mary Meeker's Brilliant, Tech-Centered Turnaround Plan For USA Inc Post Date: 2011-02-25 22:19:48 by go65

Kleiner Perkins partner Mary Meeker published a gigantic 460 page research report this morning, analyzing the entire USA as if it were a company. "USA Inc," she calls it. Meeker's verdict: "By the standards of any public corporation, USA Inc.s financials are discouraging." "Our review finds serious challenges in USA Inc.s financials," she writes. "The management team has created incentives to spend on healthcare, housing, and current consumption. At the margin, investing in productive capital, education, and technology the very tools needed to compete in the global marketplace has stagnated." "In ...

The last few weeks have been among the most exciting and promising in recent memory. People all over the middle east are rising up against the tyrants who have lorded over them for decades. Even Colonel Gaddafi -- a brutal dictator, who has been in power for 42 years -- is fighting for his survival. This should tell us all that something very big is happening in the world. The turmoil isn't just occurring in the middle east. Beleaguered taxpayers in Europe and America have staged their own revolutions as well -- booting out fiscally irresponsible politicians who have run up their public debt and torpedoed their economies. In America, the Tea Party movement helped spur an electoral ...

Conservatives cannot govern well, wrote Alan Wolfe in a widely circulated 2006 Washington Monthly essay, for the same reason that vegetarians cannot prepare a world-class boeuf bourguignon: If you believe that what you are called upon to do is wrong, you are not likely to do it very well. Now that Republicans control the House of Representatives, thanks in no small part to the rabidly anti-government Tea Party movement, Wolfe has updated his thesis. Conservatives, now that they have a chance, simply wont govern. He writes in Democracy Journal: Every indication we have suggests that in the wake of their midterm success, Republicans will continue on the same ...

The British Empire, the Ottoman Empire, and even the Romans are examples for America. Englands empire was ruined by the costs of two world wars. The Ottomans of Turkey depended on borrowed money, the last empire to do so. Rome went down because taxes became so high that citizens welcomed the barbarian invasions as a way of escaping Roman tax collectors. Today, they are gone, but we can learn from their failures. We may not see ourselves as having an empire, but with some 800 military stations abroad and two unending trillion dollar wars, we do. Even a great and blessed country can become an empire when it extends itself, even with the best intentions, into the farthest corners of ...

Today, the city of Providence, Rhode Island sent out layoff notices to every single teacher in the city. Every single one of them. If you want to understand why this is happening, why wages in the US keep getting cut, this chart tells the story. Thats the number of strikes since 1947. What youll notice is that people in America just dont strike anymore. Why? Well, their jobs have been shipped off to factory countries, their unions have been broken, and their salaries until recently have been supplemented by credit. Its part of a giant labor arbitrage game, that the Federal Reserve and elites in both parties are happy to play. Strike, and youre fired. ...

A senior Iranian commander says Israel is facing increasing pressure as a wave of Islamic awakening against Western-backed dictatorships surges through the Middle East. Islamic awakening has been underway for years, said Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi, commander of Iran's Basij (volunteer mobilization) Force. He described Iran's Islamic Revolution in 1979 as the flash point of this trend, Mehr News Agency reported on Thursday. Naqdi said the movement has, however, been set back in some countries due to the oppression and the stifling atmosphere imposed by their dictatorial rulers, who resorted to murder, torture and expelling popular leaders. Geithner Butt of Jokes No More as Obama's Money Man Now on Top of Economy Post Date: 2011-02-24 13:02:42 by Brian S

Feb. 24 (Bloomberg) -- Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner says the U.S. economy is in a much stronger position than it was two years ago. The same could be said of him. Once the focal point for criticism of the administrations struggle to resolve the financial crisis, opposed by almost all Senate Republicans for confirmation, and the butt of jokes by late-night comedians, Geithner has emerged as President Barack Obamas most powerful economic policy maker. His influence on everything from overhauling housing finance to remaking the corporate tax code is reminiscent of the clout that Robert Rubin and James Baker enjoyed when they ran Treasury. Many would have ...

The reasons for the current protests in Wisconsin are somewhat complex but ultimately represent the need to address an unsustainable status quo versus a deep, although understandable, attachment to it. Naturally, government and union workers dont want their pay or benefits reduced, just like those in the private sector dont like it when they are downsized, fall victim to budget cuts or are outright fired. But whether private or public, changing circumstances often mean, well, circumstances must change. Such realignments are almost always controversial, even when they make sense. This is particularly the case when any such reform proposals target longstanding assumptions or ...
