3-D Printed Gun Only Lasts Six Shots
Post Date: 2012-12-03 19:57:45 by A K A Stone
A group of 3-D printing gunsmiths have taken another step toward making a gun you can download off the internet. This weekend, the desktop weaponeers took a partially printed rifle out to test how long its plastic parts survived spewing bullets. The result? Six rounds until it snapped apart.
But that was also the point, the group’s founder tells Danger Room. “We knew it would break, probably,” says Cody Wilson, who heads the Wiki Weapon project. “But I don’t think we thought it’d break within six [rounds]. We thought it’d break within 20.”
It’s the first live testing done by Wilson and Defense Distributed, the online collective that aims not only produce the world’s first fully ...

Post Date: 2012-12-03 15:47:36 by Brian S
NBC sportscaster Bob Costas used his regular halftime segment Sunday night to speak out in favor of gun control in the wake of the murder-suicide incident involving a professional football player. You knew it was coming, said Costas, who is perhaps best known for anchoring the networks coverage of the past few Olympic Games. In the aftermath of the nearly unfathomable events in Kansas City, that most mindless of sports clichés was heard yet again, Something like this really puts it all in perspective. Well if so, that sort of perspective has a very short shelf life since we will inevitably hear about the perspective we have supposedly again ...

Chuck Woolery On Gun Control: 5 Reasons Why We Cannot Ban Firearms In America
Post Date: 2012-11-28 03:08:04 by hondo68
Mac Slavo: Legendary game show host Chuck Woolery has a message for Americans, and he delivers it with an AR-15 in hand. There is no doubt that its a tragedy when anyone takes the life of another without cause. But to blame assault weapons for this tragedy would be like, well, blaming airplanes for the 9-11 attacks. The problem lies with the perpetrator, not the tool used to commit the crime.
As of right now, the Constitution is still the law of the land. And since we are a nation of laws and not men, we need to follow it carefully.
The second amendment allows for assault weapons. The left argues that the founding fathers didnt even know what an assault weapon was. ...

Credits: U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission The chairman of the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has provided aspiring terrorists with an idea use a .22 rifle to take out power transformers. There are ways that a very few number of actors with very rudimentary equipment could take down large portions of our grid, FERC Chairman Jon Wellinghoff said at a Bloomberg Government breakfast in Washington last Friday. I dont think we have the level of physical security we need. A would-be al-Qaeda miscreant could get 200 yards away with a .22 rifle could ...

But today Judge Michael Pert QC ignored the plea and jailed OGorman and accomplice Daniel Mansell, 33, for four years each. He told OGorman: I make it plain that, in my judgment, being shot is not mitigation. If you burgle a house in the country where the householder owns a legally held shotgun, that is the chance you take. You cannot come to court and ask ...
Obama Justice Department Ends Due Process - ATF's latest gun grab
Post Date: 2012-09-12 00:28:43 by hondo68
The Obama administration is making it easier for bureaucrats to take away guns without offering the accused any realistic due process. In a final rule published last week, the Justice Department granted the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) authority to seize and administratively forfeit property involved in controlled-substance abuses. That means government can grab firearms and other property from someone who has never been convicted or even charged with any crime. Its a dangerous extension of the civil-forfeiture doctrine, a surreal legal fiction in which the seized property not a person is put on trial. This allows prosecutors to ...

Zero Hedge posted the chart below. It shows a steady increase in firearms sales, especially after the election of Obama. This is good news for the Second Amendment and bad news for all the gun-grabbers like Michael Bloomberg, Chuckie Schumer, and supposed conservative Bill Kristol. I think there is more support for some moderate forms of gun control, Kristol said in July. Good luck with that, Bill, another panelist more in tune with reality responded. Later today, gunmaker Smith and Wesson will report its quarterly earnings, which come in the wake of three mass shootings. Turns out, those shootings havent stopped Americans from buying ...

Fast and Furious Bombshell Explodes According to a high-ranking Mexican drug cartel operative, who is currently in U.S. custody, there are some things that the American people are not being told about Fast and Furious. We obviously knew something was not being told behind the scenes because of Barack Obama issuing executive privilege and Holder being in contempt of Congress for failing to comply. But this makes even the sleepiest of people perk up their ears and pay attention. Jesus Vicente Zambada-Niebla, known as the Sinaloa Cartels logistics coordinator, has brought allegations that the gunwalking operation had nothing to do with tracking guns and everything to do ...

Gun violence targeted as social disease
Post Date: 2012-08-12 12:15:19 by hondo68
MILWAUKEE (AP) Is a gun like a virus, a car, tobacco or alcohol? Yes say public health experts, who in the wake of recent mass shootings are calling for a fresh look at gun violence as a social disease. What we need, they say, is a public health approach to the problem, like the highway safety measures, product changes and driving laws that slashed deaths from car crashes decades ago, even as the number of vehicles on the road rose. One example: Guardrails are now curved to the ground instead of having sharp metal ends that stick out and pose a hazard in a crash. "People used to spear themselves and we blamed the drivers for that," said Dr. Garen Wintemute, an emergency ...

While the federal government is arming itself to the teeth against conservatives The recent deluge of attacks against the second amendment were completely predictable in the aftermath of the Colorado massacre, but what perhaps wasnt so expected was the fact that a lot of them have come from so-called Republicans. Although normally aligned with the right to keep and bear arms, over the last week numerous self-proclaimed conservatives have proven themselves to be wolves in sheeps clothing. The most recent rhetorical assault on gun rights came yesterday courtesy of Reagan appointee and so-called intellectual anchor of the Supreme Courts conservative wing, Justice Antonin ...

Is There a Connection Between Colorado Shooting, U.N. Arms Treaty? posted on July 24, 2012 by Tad Cronn There are conspiracy theories, and there are conspiracy theories. For instance, the one about metamorphing space lizards secretly running the planet Ill believe when I actually see a member of Britains royal family actually turn into a space lizard, a la V. But some conspiracy theories have just enough meat on them to make you go hmm. One such theory is emerging in the Aurora Batman shootings. I dont necessarily endorse this, but the fact that its gaining popularity so quickly and that its not entirely unbelievable ...

Batman Theatre Was A "Gun Free Zone" And it worked SO WELL at keeping people from bringing in guns! Don't worry, I'm sure the shooter will be promptly ticketed for violating the ordinance. This was posted on a CO gun rights organization's FB page: https://www.facebook.com/rmgofb The blame is rightly placed on the shooter, but blood is also on the hands of Cinemark Theaters and the city council of Aurora, Colorado. Aurora has a municipal ordinance which makes it illegal to carry into a premises that is posted "no guns." In other words, the city gave private signage the force of law. Cinemark theaters has had a no guns policy for some time, and has asked ...
