Record Gun Sales Continue Through May Thirteen straight months of gun sales records
Post Date: 2016-06-07 07:24:17 by Stoner

The month of May saw yet another gun-related background check record making it the 13th month to see an all time high. The FBI completed a record 1,870,000 checks through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, or NICS, this May, according to an agency report. That’s almost 300,000 more checks than May of 2015, which set a record at the time. It is also nearly a million more checks than May 2008. May was also the first month in 2016 that did not break two million checks as the gun industry enters a seasonal lull in sales. The numbers remain on pace to set another yearly record, however. The current yearly background check record, all-time monthly record, and all-time ...

Hillary Clinton: Government Has ‘A Right’ To Regulate 2nd Amendment

Government has a right to regulate the Second Amendment, Hillary Clinton said in an interview on the June 5 airing of This Week With George Stephanopoulos, Clinton contended that Americans have historically recognized the government’s “right” to regulate the bearing of arms, suggesting that it was not until District of Columbia v Heller (2008) that anyone thought otherwise. Stephanopoulos asked, “Do you believe an individual’s right to bear arms is a constitutional right? That it’s not linked to the service in the militia?” Clinton responded: I think that for most of our history there was a nuanced reading of the Second Amendment, until the decision ...

D.C. concealed carry applications soar while ‘good reason’ requirement not enforced

Applications for concealed carry permits have spiked in the District since a federal judge ordered the city to stop requiring gun owners to prove they have a “good reason” to carry a firearm in public, according to documents filed as part of an ongoing legal challenge to D.C. gun laws. Ten days after U.S. District Judge Richard Leon’s order blocked the city from enforcing a key provision of its gun laws, the Metropolitan Police Department had received 85 concealed carry permit applications — compared to the 61 applications it had received in the prior six months. The disclosure was made by the District’s office of the attorney general in a motion filed before a ...

A wheelchair-bound Vietnam vet in Monticello, Georgia, shot and killed a suspected home intruder on Thursday. The incident occurred around 9 p.m. According to The Atlanta Constitution-Journal, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) says 69-year-old Eddie Frank Smith was at home when 22-year-old Andre Smith forced his way inside the house. Andre — who was not related to the elder Smith — made entry through a back door. When the elder Smith went to investigate the noise, Andre allegedly lunged at him. The elder Smith then fired in self-defense, striking Andre in the chest. Andre “ran away and collapsed about 100 yards from the residence.” He was pronounced dead at a ...

This nation does not need the draft By Michael A. Thiac A proposal to include women in the military draft, supported in Congressional testimony by the heads of the Marine Corps and Army, was stripped from the National Defense Authorization Act by a close vote of the House Rules Committee this week. But agitation for universal military conscription will continue, sometimes from the left, so “so that Americans ‘feel the burden’ of ongoing military operations against Islamic militants, will not go away.” After 23 years of military service, it is clear to me that a universal draft is not essential, and indeed would be harmful to our national security. Four of the shots that cops fired at a madman waving a knife in Midtown failed to penetrate his jacket — which was not bulletproof — and the NYPD will now check the weapons for malfunction, law enforcement sources told The Post. “The bullets we have may be defective and that’s very disturbing,” one source said. “When we fire our weapons, we want to make damn sure that our bullets hit our target — neutralizing our target.” A sergeant and an officer fired a total of nine rounds at 46-year-old Garry Conrad on Wednesday, with one of the shots killing the depressed Broadway stagehand who refused to drop the blade at West 49th Street and Eighth Avenue. ...

The price: $1,265,000. “Other guns have sold higher as a pair, but no other single firearm surpasses this new world record. It was an honor to be entrusted with an American treasure,” said Kevin Hogan, president of the Illinois-based company. California Democrats To Launch ‘Gunpocalpyse’ May 16

Democrat lawmakers in California are preparing to launch “Gunpocalypse” on Monday, May 16. The Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) warns that anti-gun lawmakers will be relentless in their legislative assault, as they want to secure success for their favorite gun control proposals before Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom (D) has a chance to step in and upstage them via his ballot initiative in November on background checks for ammunition. FPC legislative advocate Craig DeLuz warns: Democrats have given up on any illusion of respect for the process or the voice of the people. The saddest part is that they are clearly doing this as a political ploy to undermine Gavin Newsom’s initiative on ...

The most recent fatal shooting occurred at 3:21 p.m. Sunday, when an unknown male was found on the street in the 3400 block of W Arthington in the Homan Square neighborhood, according to police. There is no doubt that people do have the right to carry and have a stockpile of guns (“the right of the people to keep and bear arms”) and a state has the right to organize a well-regulated Militia. But, the main issue is on the right to self-defend with a firearm. The main ...

‘GunMeggedon’ in California With More Gun, Magazine Bans

California lawmakers launched a full frontal assault on the state’s few remaining Second Amendment freedoms by passing more gun restrictions and magazine bans out of committee on Tuesday. The Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) described the April 19 assault as “GunMeggedon,” and warns that gun control in California is poised to pass a point of no return. Ten gun control bills were under consideration, eight of which survived their first vote and now move “to their respective Appropriations Committee.” FPC reports what the “GunMeggedon” bills do: AB 2510 eliminates uniformity for CCW permits, putting permit holders and law enforcement at greater risk. A massive new handgun tax imposed in one U.S. territory could serve as a blueprint for Democrats to ban firearms throughout the country without being shut down by the Constitution. Late last month, a federal judge ruled unconstitutional a 40-year-old total ban on handguns in the Northern Mariana Islands. In the ruling, the judge declared: “[B]ecause the people of the Commonwealth are part of the American people who have overwhelmingly chosen handguns as their principal means of self-defense, the Second Amendment protects that right here as well.” In response to the judge’s order, the territory’s governing body worked out another way to deny residents’ 2nd ...

Does Carrying A Pistol Make You Safer?

There is a pistol-packing revolution going on in America. Nearly 13 million Americans have permits to carry concealed handguns — triple the number just nine years ago — and that figure is low because not every state reports. It's puzzling that so many Americans are choosing to arm themselves at a time when the FBI tells us violent crime and property crime have been falling dramatically for two decades. In search of handgun permit holders, I drove out to the Texas Firearms Festival, an outdoor gun extravaganza held near Austin where firearms fanciers get to shoot everything they see. "If you're in Paris and you see people coming with AKs into your rock concert, that ...

In the past three months, Pennsylvania residents have tried to buy 97 firearms every hour. Additionally, the number of requests this quarter through the Pennsylvania Instant Check System (PICS) is up 26 percent from last year. Since PICS was established in 1998, the number of background checks has incrementally increased from 200,000 at it inception to over a million by 2013. That was mostly due to the post-Sandy Hook talk about gun control (via Penn Live): Every hour during the months of January, February and March, more than 97 people attempted to buy or transfer ownership of a gun in Pennsylvania. And those are just the legal transactions. According to the state police firearms report, ...

Crawford was shot by police in an aisle of the Beavercreek Walmart on August 5, 2014. He was legally holding a BB gun that he picked up off the shelf of the Walmart at the time.
