The headlines and news networks are awash with the shooting that occurred on Sunday in Florida 50 dead and 53 hospitalized in the largest single mass-shooting incident in the history of the U.S. History in the making, and as Rahm Emmanuel put it, never let a crisis go to waste. The governor of Florida quickly declared a state of emergency, and as the FBI is labeling it as a terrorist incident, undoubtedly the federal presence is going to increase. All of the machinery is in place and has been in place for quite some time, now. The harbinger of things to come was already outlined by Obama, on January 14, 2014 in a White House Press Conference: ...
Senate Democrats are reviving a controversial bill after the Orlando massacre
Post Date: 2016-06-14 10:41:42 by Stoner
Senate Democrats pledged on Monday to reintroduce a bill banning people on the terror watch list from buying weapons in the aftermath of Sunday morning's massacre at an LGBTQ nightclub in Orlando, Florida. The massacre left at least 49 people dead and dozens more wounded. It was the deadliest mass shooting in US history. The suspected gunman, Omar Mateen, 29, was born in the US to Afghan parents, and, according to his father, was recently disturbed by seeing two men kissing in Miami. The shooting is being investigated as an act of terrorism, as Mateen allegedly pledged allegiance to ISIS and other terrorist organizations before the attack. The FBI confirmed that it had conducted two ...
Donald Trump vows to end gun-free zones
Post Date: 2016-06-13 19:17:40 by tpaine
Donald Trump vows to end gun-free zones Donald Trump has slammed Hillary Clinton as "heartless" for backing restrictions on gun ownership that he said would leave Americans in high-crime areas unable to protect themselves. Trump's remarks came at the National Rifle Association convention in Louisville, Kentucky on Friday. The gun rights organisation endorsed the presumptive Republican nominee ahead of his remarks, despite Trump's previous support for measures such as an assault weapons ban that the NRA vigorously opposes. But the business mogul-turned-politician has taken a far less restrictive stance on guns during the Republican presidential primary. His call for ...

Post Date: 2016-06-07 07:24:17 by Stoner
The month of May saw yet another gun-related background check record making it the 13th month to see an all time high. The FBI completed a record 1,870,000 checks through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, or NICS, this May, according to an agency report. Thats almost 300,000 more checks than May of 2015, which set a record at the time. It is also nearly a million more checks than May 2008. May was also the first month in 2016 that did not break two million checks as the gun industry enters a seasonal lull in sales. The numbers remain on pace to set another yearly record, however. The current yearly background check record, all-time monthly record, and all-time ...

Government has a right to regulate the Second Amendment, Hillary Clinton said in an interview on the June 5 airing of This Week With George Stephanopoulos, Clinton contended that Americans have historically recognized the governments right to regulate the bearing of arms, suggesting that it was not until District of Columbia v Heller (2008) that anyone thought otherwise. Stephanopoulos asked, Do you believe an individuals right to bear arms is a constitutional right? That its not linked to the service in the militia? Clinton responded: I think that for most of our history there was a nuanced reading of the Second Amendment, until the decision ...

This nation does not need the draft By Michael A. Thiac A proposal to include women in the military draft, supported in Congressional testimony by the heads of the Marine Corps and Army, was stripped from the National Defense Authorization Act by a close vote of the House Rules Committee this week. But agitation for universal military conscription will continue, sometimes from the left, so so that Americans feel the burden of ongoing military operations against Islamic militants, will not go away. After 23 years of military service, it is clear to me that a universal draft is not essential, and indeed would be harmful to our national security. Asking everyone to ...

Post Date: 2016-05-15 08:46:30 by cranky
Democrat lawmakers in California are preparing to launch Gunpocalypse on Monday, May 16. The Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) warns that anti-gun lawmakers will be relentless in their legislative assault, as they want to secure success for their favorite gun control proposals before Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom (D) has a chance to step in and upstage them via his ballot initiative in November on background checks for ammunition. FPC legislative advocate Craig DeLuz warns: Democrats have given up on any illusion of respect for the process or the voice of the people. The saddest part is that they are clearly doing this as a political ploy to undermine Gavin Newsoms initiative on ...

A Revision on the Bill of Rights, Part III 04/26/2016 01:07 pm ET 2.5 K Justin Curmi A blogger that seeks to engage people in thought and conversation through presenting new views to matters, new or old. A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. The Second Amendment is highly contested. There is no doubt that people do have the right to carry and have a stockpile of guns (the right of the people to keep and bear arms) and a state has the right to organize a well-regulated Militia. But, the main issue is on the right to self-defend with a firearm. The main ...

Taxpayer advocate warns taxes could kill the 2nd Amendment
Post Date: 2016-04-16 12:10:46 by Stoner
A massive new handgun tax imposed in one U.S. territory could serve as a blueprint for Democrats to ban firearms throughout the country without being shut down by the Constitution. Late last month, a federal judge ruled unconstitutional a 40-year-old total ban on handguns in the Northern Mariana Islands. In the ruling, the judge declared: [B]ecause the people of the Commonwealth are part of the American people who have overwhelmingly chosen handguns as their principal means of self-defense, the Second Amendment protects that right here as well. In response to the judges order, the territorys governing body worked out another way to deny residents 2nd ...
