“Big Second Amendment Guy” Donald Trump Wants Police to Take Away More Guns
Post Date: 2016-09-23 10:06:18 by Willie Green
The new gun-control policy is called stop and frisk. Donald Trumps professed love of guns is almost as abiding as his love of walls and portraits of himself. He has claimed that no one loves the Second Amendment more, and that he could shoot someone in the street and I wouldnt lose any voters. He wants to federalize concealed-carry laws, and once suggested that the Pulse nightclub shooting would have gone differently had the patrons carried weapons, a statement that even the N.R.A. said defies common sense. He has called himself a big Second Amendment guy and even proposed that if gun control-loving Hillary Clinton became ...

Appeals court rules mental-health ban on gun ownership might violate Second Amendment
Post Date: 2016-09-16 07:34:31 by Stoner
A divided federal appeals court ruled that a decades-old federal law indefinitely banning people committed to mental health treatment from owning a gun could violate the Second Amendment. The Sixth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Thursday revived a lawsuit filed by a Michigan man who failed a background check while attempting to buy a gun in 2011. Clifford C. Tyler had been committed to a mental institution 25 years earlier but since has received a clean bill of health. Judge Julia Smith Gibbons, writing for the Sixth Circuit majority, said government lawyers offered compelling evidence for prohibiting people currently or recently suffering from mental illness from possessing a gun. That ...
Gang Members Implicate U.S. Gov’t in Dumping Crates of Guns in Chicago
Post Date: 2016-09-14 10:11:09 by Deckard
There is a well-documented history of the U.S. government supplying weapons and arms to both friends and foe for political purposes and for profit. In addition to publicly known global arms deals to U.S. political allies like Israel and Saudi Arabia, revelations about the rise of ISIS indicate that U.S. arms and military trainees have been a critical factor in the rise of the terror group. From 2006 to 2011 the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms ran a gun smuggling operation into Mexico to ostensibly dismantle Mexican drug gangs, accomplishing the precise opposite, however, in what has affectionately become known as Fast and Furious. Further back in time we have covert operations ...

Surprise: Gun ownership rises to 44% of all homes
Post Date: 2016-08-28 15:06:31 by cranky
After a steady decline in gun ownership in recent years, more homes are reporting having a weapon inside, according to a new survey. Pew Research Center, in a poll on guns released Friday, showed that 44 percent of the country has a gun in the house. Some 51 percent don't. The survey firm didn't break those numbers out for special attention in reviewing American attitudes about background checks, an assault weapon ban or other gun issues, but it shows a jump in ownership from the mid-30 percent found in other recent polls. CBS, for example, had gun ownership to a low of 36 percent. Gun sales have been on a tear over the past year, giving support for growing household ...

Post Date: 2016-08-20 19:55:28 by cranky
On August 18 Gun Owners of America (GOA) highlighted the lie behind gun free zones by pointing out that disarming good guys does not disarm bad guys. The video opens with GOA executive director emeritus Larry Pratt saying, I dont want to feel safe, I want to be safe. I want to be able to protect myself, I want other people to be able to protect themselves, and going into a gun free zone is definitely not the way to protect anybody. GOA executive director Erich Pratt then speaks, saying, Theres a whole list of places where killers have actually targeted the places where people cant protect themselves. He pointed out how the Aurora movie ...
New Gun Control Idea: Take Guns from Senior Citizens
Post Date: 2016-08-19 20:59:34 by Stoner
John Hopkins Universitys Shannon Frattaroli sees danger in gun ownership among senior citizens, and pointed out Thursday that Californias Gun Violence Restraining Orders (GVROs) provide a way that families can have guns confiscated from older relatives. Senior citizens have been among the most adamant Second Amendment advocates in recent years, such as the late Otis McDonald (above), who challenged Chicagos handgun ban at the U.S. Supreme Court and won. But Frattaroli, who works at the John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, has expressed concern over what an grandparent with a gun might do to him or herself via suicide, or the danger that may befall a ...

Bill Weld Just Compared AR-15s to “Weapons of Mass Destruction,” & Said Pistols Were Even Worse!
Post Date: 2016-08-15 07:07:54 by Deckard
William Weld, the former Republican governor of Massachusetts selected to be Gary Johnsons running mate on the Libertarian ticket, just made one of the mind-blowingly stupid comments Ive heard a politician make regarding firearms, bar none. 16 minutes and 50 seconds into an interview with Revolt TV, Weld dropped this stunning statement. The five-shot rifle, thats a standard military rifle; the problem is if you attach a clip to it so it can fire more shells and if you remove the pin so that it becomes an automatic weapon, and those are independent criminal offenses, Weld said. That is when they become, essentially, a weapon of mass destruction. The ...

ISIS Defector Says Group Mocks America's "Dumb" 2nd Amendment
Post Date: 2016-08-05 10:34:41 by Willie Green
ISIS-related shootings have become a serious issue that concerns many Americans, and it appears the terrorist group is taking advantage of Americas gun laws. In a new interview with the New York Times, former ISIS recruit Harry Sarfo claims that ISIS members believe it is easy to get a gun in America, and that benefits the terrorist group. For America and Canada, its much easier for them to get them over the social network, because they say the Americans are dumb they have open gun policies, Sarfo said. They say we can radicalize them easily, and if they have no prior record, they can buy guns, so we dont need to have no contact man who has to ...
July Gun Sales Crush Previous Record
Post Date: 2016-08-04 14:13:15 by Stoner
The number of gun-related background checks performed in July far exceeded those of any previous July, newly released numbers from the FBI show. The National Instant Criminal Background Check System, or NICS, processed nearly 2.2 million checks last month. That represents an increase of almost 600,000 checks over the previous record set last year. It is also an increase of more than a million checks over July 2011. The July record is the latest in a string of 15 record-setting months for firearm background checks. July also saw an increase over Junes numbers as the gun industrys seasonal lull comes to an end. This calendar year, with more than 16 million checks on record thus ...

3D Printed and Homemade “Ghost Guns” Must Now Be Registered in California
Post Date: 2016-07-27 10:37:01 by Deckard
By Everett Numbers California law will no longer look the other way on homemade guns, or ghost guns, as gun control advocates call them. Building a gun from parts or a 3D printer will soon require a background check. It will also require that a state-provided serial number be permanently affixed to the weapon. Governor Jerry Brown (D) signed Assembly Bill 857 into law on Friday, much to the chagrin of gun rights groups. Brown had vetoed similar legislation in 2014, according to the Sacramento Bee. I appreciate the authors concerns about gun violence, but I cant see how adding a serial number to a homemade gun would significantly advance public safety, ...

A military veteran saved the life of a bald eagle last week by using a semi-automatic rifle. Jason Galvin and his wife noticed an eagle ensnared in rope around its leg hanging 70 feet above ground from a tree, near Rush City, Minnesota, WCCO reported. I thought it was dead at the time, Galvin said. I took a closer look with binoculars and saw that the head was moving, and I knew it was very much alive. Although Galvin and his wife Jackie contacted emergency authorities from the police to the fire department to the Department of Natural Resources, each one turned the couple away saying nothing could be done. Everyone had the same answer, Jackie said. ...

Wow, Justice Sotomayor Kind of Agrees With Justice Thomas on a Gun Case! by Chris White | 1:37 pm, June 27th, 2016 16 A case that garnered much less attention than the other two major Supreme Court rulings on Monday saw a rather unusual pairing of Justice Sonia Sotomayor partially joining the dissent of Justice Clarence Thomas in a federal firearms statute case. C. §922(g)(9) that extended the federal prohibition on firearms possession by convicted felons to persons convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.
