This year alone — the past nine months and 2 days — Americans have heard news about 294 mass shootings (four or more people injured or killed by a gun and a shooter). Tuesday was the 275th day of the year, so in 2015 we've had, on average, a mass shooting every 22 and a half hours. This year alone, we've had 45 school shootings — more than one a week, to date. And there have been 142 school shootings since the Dec. 14, 2012, massacre in Newtown, Conn. As of Friday morning, 9,957 people in the United States have been killed by gun violence — just this year. At least 20,269 have been injured by a firearm — just since Jan. 1. On average, seven children and ...

Wants less shouting, more good policy. BernieSanders.com Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) joined the parade of politicians responding to the shooting at a community college in Oregon with their pre-selected political pronouncements before all the facts are even in. It's become a tradition. President Obama spoke last night while the media was still nailing down the name of the alleged gunmen. Sanders posted his message to one of his Facebook pages. He has two, one for his Senate position and one for his presidential campaign. This was posted on his senatorial Facebook: The American people are horrified by these never-ending mass shootings. Our hearts go out to the families and friends of the ...

The M1 carbine could not be returned to him because it falls under the definition of an assault firearm, which is illegal to possess according to New ...

The decision came in a case revolving around a 2011 incident in which “six workers were fired after they fought with a shoplifter who pulled a gun on them inside the Layton Wal-Mart.” According to Fox 13, when Walmart defended their actions, Utah Supreme Court Justice ...

Donald J. Trump on the Right to Keep and Bear Arms The Second Amendment to our Constitution is clear. The right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed upon. Period. The Second Amendment guarantees a fundamental right that belongs to all law- abiding Americans. The Constitution doesn’t create that right – it ensures that the government can’t take it away. Our Founding Fathers knew, and our Supreme Court has upheld, that the Second Amendment’s purpose is to guarantee our right to defend ourselves and our families. This is about self-defense, plain and simple. It’s been said that the Second Amendment is America’s first freedom. That’s ...

video Malachi Heisler was still rattled Tuesday morning. He covered his face with a bandana as he told us about waking up to the sound of his name being called out around midnight. “I heard the words Malachi and help,” he said. Hearing the distress, he grabbed his rifle. Then he came face to face with a man, dressed head to toe in tactical gear, holding a gun to his mother’s head. “I had about 5 to 6 seconds to make a decision,” he said. In that time, Heisler says the intruder pointed the gun toward him. But the 18-year-old shot first, hitting the masked man in the head and killing him. That man turned out to be Heisler’s own father, John. “By the ...

Jeb Bush's pro-gun conservative credentials suffered a blow on Tuesday as a Telegraph survey showed he is one of the only Republican presidential candidates who does not own a gun. Of the 17 Republican hopefuls vying to lead their party into next year's election only Mr Bush and two other candidates do not have their own firearms. Chris Christie, the governor of New Jersey, does not own a gun while Carly Fiorina, a former business executive and the only woman in the race, has six guns in her house but they belong to her husband. Donald Trump owns a handgun. Here he is pictured receiving a ceremonial rifle at a military academy All the other candidates said they had at least one ...

A new assault rifle being manufactured in central Florida has drawn fire after the gunmaker branded it the “Crusader” and said it was designed “to never be used by Muslim terrorists.” Spike’s Tactical in Apopka etched its new $1,395 AR-15 with a Bible verse that says “Blessed be the Lord my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle,” MyFoxOrlando reported. Company spokesman Ben Thomas, a former Navy SEAL, said the scripture is something of an insurance policy to keep it out of the hands of terrorists. The idea came to him during the weapon's development. At the time, the U.S. government was preparing to arm rebel groups in Syria. ...

As much as we all want to prevent the mentally unstable from possessing firearms, the fact is that there was nothing in Flanagan’s background to prevent him from legally owning a firearm. As NBC News reported: Nothing in Flanagan's background disqualified him from buying a gun. He was arrested ...

Michelle Obama Knows More About Guns than Ted Cruz

On Monday, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) became the latest in a string of Republican presidential candidates to attempt a viral video challenge to Donald Trump‘s absolute domination of the newshole when he filmed himself making and eating something he called “machine gun bacon.” There’s just one problem with Cruz’s demonstration (aside from the obvious overcompensation), which is that this ain’t a machine gun: As anyone with even a rudimentary knowledge of firearms can tell you, that’s a semi-automatic rifle. In fact, Rachel Maddow‘s show even contacted the gun range where the spot was filmed to confirm that the weapon used was an AR-15 semi-automatic ...

Tuesday the Los Angeles City Council in a surprise move unanimously voted to ban possession of any detachable firearm magazine capable of holding more than ten rounds-- even those grandfathered a generation ago. You see, California in 2000 passed legislation banning new mags of this type, labeling them "high capacity" although they were standard in most models such as the Glock 19 and Glock 17, but allowed those who had them to keep them. Now, this is no more as anyone with a mag holding 10+ will have 60 days to either destroy it, turn it into police, sell it to a dealer (who can only resell it to another dealer or police), plug it or ship it out of the city. Councilman Paul ...

Cass County Sheriff Larry Rowe said the man, who was not identified, went outside his home in Marietta, Texas, at around 3 a.m. local time Thursday morning. He spotted the armadillo on his property and opened fire. "His wife was in the house. He went outside and took his .38 revolver and shot three times at the armadillo," Rowe said.
